Great as in superior to others
He knows our pain, our secrets, our fears
The results of our great high priest is we can come into His presence with boldness
Hebrews 4:14–16 NIV
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
JESUS IS…
As our high priest he intercedes for us, he pleads our case to God
The Great High Priest
He understands what it means to be tempted, to be betrayed, made fun of, lied about, criticized, misunderstood, to feel like no one is listening, lonely, forgotten,
He knows what it means to feel the weight of sin, to suffer, for life to not be fair
The high priest is to bring God to humans and humans to God
He pleads our case to God as our mediator and intecessor
