CONCLUSION:
Imagine that you are in the wilderness – snakes everywhere and you have just been bitten by one of them!
A runner comes up to you and says “There is a cure and I was healed!… all you have to do is look at the snake and live.”
My question for you is this.
Would you have shared in the good news?
Would you have trusted in the provided remedy?
Or, would you have simply tried to find your own cure?
The fact is that you are suffering from the incurable snakebite of sin.
There is no natural cure.
There is no way that you can help yourself.
I want to urge you today to look to Christ in faith, trusting in his finished work on the cross for your salvation.
My friend I urge you to look and live.
Hymn: “Look and Live”
By William A. Ogden, 1887
I’ve a message from the Lord, hallelujah!
This message unto you I’ll give,
’Tis recorded in His word, hallelujah!
It is only that you “look and live.”
I’ve a message full of love, hallelujah!
A message, O my friend, for you,
’Tis a message from above, hallelujah!
Jesus said it, and I know ’tis true.
Life is offered unto you, hallelujah!
Eternal life thy soul shall have,
If you’ll only look to Him, hallelujah!
Look to Jesus who alone can save.
I will tell you how I came, hallelujah!
To Jesus when He made me whole—
’Twas believing on His name, hallelujah!
I trusted and He saved my soul.
Refrain: “Look and live,” my brother, live, Look to Jesus now, and live; ’Tis recorded in His word, hallelujah!
It is only that you “look and live.”
