“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. ()
The word we usually translate ‘soul’ has the basic meaning of ‘throat’.
The human soul has a desperation and desire that can only be met by its Maker!

1. Our Longing!

“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God.” ()
