The word we usually translate ‘soul’ has the basic meaning of ‘throat’.

The human soul has a desperation and desire that can only be met by its Maker!

1. Our Longing!

“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God.” ()

“Then Jesus said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”” ()
