Introduction
Greetings...
Today is a day that many will get out of bed and attend services for the first time this year.
Today is a day that many will dress very nice, for the first time this year, to worship their God.
Today is a day, unfortunately, that many will walk out the doors of the building not knowing God any better than they did before they came.
The number of people each year that make the year or bi-yearly treat to services is growing, but why?
Why are more and more people not worshiping God more than just a handful of times each year?
Why are so many of our brethren and young people becoming like this?
The answer is simple, they don’t know God.
God has said throughout the Bible that the path to consistent faithfulness is based on an understanding of God and His desired relationship with each of us (; ).
Ps 78:
Today we are beginning a series of lessons entitled “Open Eyes.”
Today we are going to begin a series of lessons entitled “Learning About God.”
Today we are going to begin a series of lessons entitled “Learning About God.”
In the NKJV and ASV the word wondrous is capitalized indicating
Now, if teaches us anything its that
The hope of this series is that our “eyes are open” to the “wondrous things of our God through His Word.”
The Created Universe
Look at the knowledge and power of our God in creation.
There are so many things that have no explanation without a God who created them.
God created the entire universe in six days.
That means “our God” created at least 100 billion trillion stars in the universe and cared enough to name them all.
That means “our God” created all the animals that astound us.
Cheetahs that can run upwards of 70 mph.
Blue whales that can be heard over 500 miles away.
Falcons that dive toward their food at 200 mph.
That means “our God” created mankind.
Look no further than the “brain” of mankind to see this amazing creation.
We are different than the stars, the moon, the earth, the animals, and everything else.
In 2013 scientist were able to simulate a single second of human brain activity though computer power.
They “succeeded in creating an artificial neural network of 1.73 billion nerve cells connected by 10.4 trillion synapses.”
Man is different because God creates each of us in “His image.”
Sound impressive until you realize that scientist believe the human brain actually has 80 to 100 billion nerve cells.
Here is the kicker, it took 40 seconds to create a single second of human brain activity.
Nothing else in the universe has this.

1
There is not one person that God does not personally create in His image.
What does all this mean?
It means our God knows the universe and thus “us” better than any one or anything.
The Purpose Of The Universe
The purpose of the universe is “us.”
God didn’t just go about creating things “just because,” no He created the universe, for us the pinnacle of His creation.
We are the only thing created with body, spirit, and soul.
1 Thess 5:
We are the only thing created in the “image of God.”
There is not one person God isn’t personally involved in creating.
God did all this for us because He loves us.
Summery
God didn’t have to create the universe or create us but He did because He loves us.
God wanted a relationship with you Sadie, Levi, Sophia.
God wanted a relationship with you Ashlyn, Brayden.
God wants us to have a better relationship with Him than anyone else and He has done everything He can to have that type of relationship with us.
