At some point in our lives you will probably touch both sides.
Maybe you’ve said “You don’t appreciate me, you don’t see all the work I do”.
We have to learn to:
Acknowledge their hardships before complaining about our yours.
We have no right to mouth about their shortcomings and before we praise their successes.
We are often too quick to talk about how bad things are and how much someone is not doing for us.
It’s taking time to be understanding and considerate of others.

Make “Thank You” our loudest and most passionate words.
We have to make our appreciation louder than our complaints
When they finally do it, we say “you should have been done it” “it’s about time.”
Frequently bring up moments of their past greatness
Not their past failures
This is showing honor
Honor: to regard with great respect
Take the time to appreciate the things they have done right in the past.
Praise what you want to see more of
We have to give others the appreciation that we wish we were receiving
We have to cherish them while they are living
My parents> how much I miss them> how they cherished me
Honoring each other is an essential part of what it means to cherish.
To honor someone is to hold them in high esteem.
When a queen greets you, you bow or curtsy.
When a judge enters the courtroom, you stand.
When a cherished person enters the room or says something, you honor and cherish them by taking notice.
You can honor someone without cherishing them, but you can’t cherish someone without honoring them.
When you fail to cherish one another, you are essentially dishonoring them.

Noticing and honoring are both like paddling against the natural drift toward dishonoring in the sense that if we don’t keep paddling (honoring and noticing), we’ll be carried in the opposite direction.
