Protect me Lord. 1-2

Emphatic “hear”
Deuteronomy 4:7 CSB
For what great nation is there that has a god near to it as the Lord our God is to us whenever we call to him?
The enemy has power to take life. We learned that early on didn’t we in . Cain kills Abel.
John 8:44 CSB
You are of your father the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies.
David-There is a threat God, save me.
The enemies have no regard for the Lord and they are planning and plotting together against his anointed.
Psalm 1:1–2 CSB
How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.
Psalm 1:1–3 CSB
How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
A mob plans in secret and arises quickly in the public. A mob is a noisy crowd.
Why is the tongue so important to the Body and in the Bible?
James 3:
James 3:5–12 CSB
So too, though the tongue is a small part of the body, it boasts great things. Consider how a small fire sets ablaze a large forest. And the tongue is a fire. The tongue, a world of unrighteousness, is placed among our members. It stains the whole body, sets the course of life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. Every kind of animal, bird, reptile, and fish is tamed and has been tamed by humankind, but no one can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in God’s likeness. Blessing and cursing come out of the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way. Does a spring pour out sweet and bitter water from the same opening? Can a fig tree produce olives, my brothers and sisters, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a saltwater spring yield fresh water.

Mankind is Wicked. 3-6

Wicked use speech to tear down.
The have no fear for their actions as they lie in ambush against the godly.
Illus: bears and the boys. Momma cub.
The wicked attack the innocent man//blameless.
Psalm 119:1 CSB
How happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk according to the Lord’s instruction!
The wicked are confident and prideful, but also blind, and unconscious to reality.
Blind to the justice of God.
Blind to their own inadequacies.
Illus: Facebook and Social Media have magnified a problem that existed before it was created. The Illusion that some peoples lives are to be desired.
We need to know there is a difference between reality and negativity.
Movies, News....Now we envy our neighbors or long to have their lives.
We don’t see the truth of their heartache, pain, or lies.
The Bible paints the truth about all of humanity:
SINNERS IN NEED OF GRACE AND MERCY
The mind and the heart are cunning. Mysterious!
What sin has done to mankind is frightful and astonishing.
Genesis 8:21 CSB
When the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, he said to himself, “I will never again curse the ground because of human beings, even though the inclination of the human heart is evil from youth onward. And I will never again strike down every living thing as I have done.
Protect me Lord, mankind is wicked.
Protect me Lord, mankind is wicked.

But God…7-8

The Lord’s work is sudden.
While the enemy though he was shooting arrows, in reality it was boomerangs.
What they had planned to do to the righteous will fall on themselves instead.
1 Corinthians 1:21 CSB
For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of what is preached.
1 Corinthians 1:
1 Corinthians 1:25 CSB
because God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.
1 Corinthians 1:27–29 CSB
Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world—what is viewed as nothing—to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence.
1 Corinthians 1:27-
All who see the wicked judged will shake their heads.

Righteous Rejoice in the Refuge of God 9-10

While the enemies of David are trying to instill fear in him, the Lord will instill fear to all mankind.
We will see the power of God and fear.
The Works of God—there is a story of Salvation. From Adam until Christ returns. We are apart of that story.
The righteous rejoice in the Lord. They have a great hope because they know and understand the story of God and where we are heading.
The Lord is just and we praise him for the mercy and love that He has shown to us. We rely on the Lord.
Not on our own strength, intellect, power....only the Lord.
Lament will be turned into praise.
