8 So they Arrived: Where is Your Faith? Vision 2018: Forward So they Arrived Luke 8:22-25 2018 April 11 AM Introduction: I. Where did that come from? Ever said that? A. Jesus ministers to huge crowds: Enormous crowds were following Christ along with His Disciples. a. The Disciples & other followers of Christ for days had seen Him heal lepors, the paralytic, Peter’s mother-in-law of a severe fever, cast out demons. Matthew 8 -Faith- - What could go wrong? - b. Jesus had taught the parable of the farmer sowing seed, how some fell on hard to fertile soil. Much fruit is produced from those who cling to the Word & persevere with it. -Faith- - What could go wrong? - B. Living on top of the world. a. Surely the Disciples felt they were living above & beyond the norm! b. Often people, you, think “Man, nothing can touch me!” C. Then, Jesus says, “Get in the boat.” - What could go wrong? – All the miracles & fantastic teaching they had heard! A trial, a challenge, a temptation will reveal wherein your faith lies. aac Hebrews 11:1, Romans 10:17 (BIBLE) Hebrews 11:1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. NKJV Romans 10:17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. NKJV II. Where is Your Faith? Where does it appear their faith may be? What may seem like adjustments was already on the road map of God. Just because that wasn’t how “you” planned it doesn’t mean God didn’t already know. The key is to get to your destiny not just a destination. Remember - Jesus said before He ascended to heaven that the Holy Spirit would come and dwell within us as a believer. With that, He empowers us to live victoriously for the cause of Christ and glory of the Father. Remember the application: Faith only in Christ. Let’s walk our way through their journey: Remember, Where does it appear their faith may be? A. Themselves – They trusted themselves. a. I want you to note from the first, they made it to the other side. They did arrive at their destiny. b. Jesus said, “Let us cross over to the other side.” When He says it, you can bank it! 1. Listen, Jesus had taught several lessons on faith the last couple of days. How quickly it is forgotten once the pressure is on. Remember, Where does it appear their faith may be? B. The Natural – They had faith in the Boat - manmade. a. The journey may not go as you planned. Know this, how you respond in crisis will affect others, there were "other" boats with them. b. The things made by man are susceptible to failure & destruction. Remember, Where does it appear their faith may be? C. The Storm – Their faith was in the storm. a. The disciples were in real danger, they were in literal danger of losing their life. b. Not to minimize storms & trials, I have had enough to understand that but not every wind or wave is going to destroy you rather test your faith. Your faith should be focused on Jesus Christ! Remember this, He sent us His Spirit to walk through every situation in life. Just as Jesus was in the boat with His Disciples, He - the Holy Spirit - is in life with you. When you are feeling powerless or tired or like your failing at life, you can have confidence as a believer that you're not alone. III. Focus Your Faith. All those in the boats who were affected by the storm, they did arrive to the other side. Maybe not as smooth sailing as they expected, but they made it to their destiny. A. Romans 10:17So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself). Amplified Classic What was it which built/activated faith in the hearts of the Disciples & converted their faith towards Jesus? It was when He spoke, He spoke to the wind & the waves. How can you hear the voice of Christ today? Prayer. Reading & meditating on God's Word. B. The reason we can do this is because of the resurrection of Christ. - He asks us to: * Repent * Live by Faith * Be Baptized * Be Filled with His Spirit Conclusion: PRESENT THE GOSPEL FOR SALVATION – EVERY WEEK – AND THE NEED TO COME FORWARD IN PUBLIC ACCEPTANCE OF CHRIST
