12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith!
The Word Of God
The Word Of God Is Unchangeable!
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
God is all powerful - His Word is all Powerful!
God is the Creator - His Word contains the power to create!
Nothing happens until God Said!
Everything in this material creation, everything you can see, touch, taste or smell came into existence as a result of the Word of God.
That means God’s Word is the substance of all things that exist.
God’s Word has the power to change the natural, physical world!
Since God and His Word are all powerful
Do you think the Word that created the dirt your physical body was made from has enough power to heal that body?
Do you think the Word that brought into existence all the silver and gold, all the wealth of this entire earth, has enough power to supply you with the resources to pay your electric bill?
God’s Word is eternal.
It is sovereign. It cannot be changed.
People try to change it by saying it doesn’t really mean what it says.
89 Your eternal word, O Lord, stands firm in heaven.
The World we live in is always changing! Everything here is temporary!
This World can and does change.
Now If you take something that is unchangeable and use it to apply pressure to something that is changeable, it’s obvious which one of them will yield. The changeable one!
Therefore, whenever you take the Word of God which doesn’t change and apply it in faith to this temporary world we live in -
The World which is changeable, must give in and conform to the Word which is unchangeable!.
Jesus - The Living Word understood this truth
He lived His life by it.
Jesus had faith in God’s Word
When He spoke it, this material creation bowed to it and obeyed Him.
Demons fled.
Diseases disappeared.
Death gave up its grip.
Bread multiplied.
Winds stopped blowing.
Waves ceased.
There Is Power In The Word Of God!
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The Word of God is Alive and Living.
The idea is that the Word of God is always active;
it is always working and bringing to life it’s message in our hearts.
The Word of God is "powerful"
The word powerful means it has energy! active, working,and energizing.
The Word of God is not dormant and inactive.
It is actually active and working, energizing the heart of the believer.
The Word of God is "sharper than any two edged sword."
The word "sharper" means to cut.
It is penetrating and convicting.
It does not leave a soul alone.
The Word of God will not let a soul who hears it ignore God's promise.
The Word of God is "piercing"
Piercing means to go through.
It goes right through to the soul and spirit of man.
It is the Word of God that takes man's human nature and separates the spiritual to hear and respond to God.
It pierces and separates a man's soul and spirit just as a sword pierces a man's joints and marrow. n.
Marrow - The substance inside bones which produces blood cells
⇒ It separates a proud soul from a humble spirit.
⇒ It separates a sinful soul from a righteous spirit.
⇒ It separates a rebellious soul from an obedient spirit.
⇒ It separates an unbelieving soul from a believing spirit.
The Word of God "discerns the thoughts and intents [purpose] of the heart."
The word "discern" (means to judge, to sift and analyze.
"The Word of God is able to penetrate into the furthermost recesses of a person's spiritual being, sifting out and analyzing the thoughts and intents of the heart"
God's Word sees whether a person believes or does not believe His promises
God's Word actually sees through the thoughts and purposes of a person.
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
