Alive And Well
1. 2,000 years ago an innocent man gave His life.
He did it to pay for crimes He didn’t commit.
He gave His life for my life. What made this man's death so spectacular? It was that He rose from the dead.
Acts 7:55–56 KJV 1900
But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
Acts 7:56 KJV 1900
And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
Acts 7:55
Mary - John 20:11-18
Disciples - one even puts his hand into the nail wounds.
500 - 1 Corinthians 15:6
TIMELINE SLIDE
Mary, Peter, Disciples and 500
They preached Christ was alive and well. This should be the message lived out not just today but everyday.
young revolutionaries to change the world. They preached Christ was alive and well. This should be the message lived out not just today but everyday. The risen Christ wants to come into our hearts today.
The risen Christ wants to come into our hearts today.
This innocent died in a way that was predicted in the Bible.
MESSIANIC PROHPECIES (PREDICTIONS)
What are my chances of flipping a quarter and getting heads 30 times in a row. 1 in a billion. Over 400 prophecies in the Bible. According to Peter Stoner in Science Speaks explains the probability that Jesus of Nazareth could have fulfilled even eight such prophecies would be only 1 to the 17th power. 100 Quadrillion. That's 1 in 100, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000.
48 prophecies would be 1 in 10 to the 157th power. THAT’S MORE THAN A GOOGLE.
2. The guilty are set free because Jesus died on a tree. ALIVE AND WELL
The guilty are set free because Jesus died on a tree.
Galatians 3:13 KJV 1900
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Jesus's MANNER of DEATH is significant.
The Bible says all have fallen short of the glory of God. Of His holiness.
Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.
Man’s best effort falls miserably short of a holy God.
We may do good compared to other people, but the Bible says if we have ever...
lied
looked a little too long at someone of the opposite sex
used the Lord’s name in vain
wanted something someone else had
THIS WOULD MAKE YOU...A greedy, lying, adulterous, blasphemer
What was told about Jesus’ coming?
He would be the perfect spotless lamb... no blemish, no defect, perfect in every way
He would be born in Bethlehem
He received all the sin of the world upon Himself.
He would die on a tree
He would rise again.
3. The Problem...
Man sinned. The original sin kept us out of God’s presence. God wanted what He has always wanted...to be in relationship with us. How important man is to God!
What happened the day Jesus rose from the grave...
Hell, death, and the grave were defeated.
The curse was broken
The power of sin was removed.
God could live in us.
BIBLICAL AUTHENTICITY compared to other works
Disciples
500
Jesus defeated hell, death, and the grave. Mohammed died...Buddah died....Jospeh Smith died... ONLY Jesus died and came back.
Jesus is now ALIVE AND WELL.
4. We were created for this purpose...to be in relationship with God...and to rule and reign through One, Christ Jesus
He gave us what was stolen from mankind in the garden of Eden. Power and authority to rule and reign in this life.
Jesus spoke to us that we might believe, that our joy might be full. He further explained that this joy couldn’t be taken away
John 15:11 KJV 1900
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 16:22 KJV 1900
And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
Man ALONE does not have the power to live according to standard of the Bible, but when we repent of our old ways, we take on new ability, He enlarges our capacity to love as He loved and live as He lived. The Bible says, the same power that lived in Christ lives in us.
He gives new understanding, new direction, new vision, new strength, new ability and a new dimension of living.
Because He has won and is sovereign we can pursue bold mission.
