“This Present Future: A Prayer From Gethsemane”
Every person will be handed a bitter cup to drink at some point in life.
Every Christian will face a moment (perhaps multiple) where the choice will be before you, “do you love/trust your will or the will of the Father in Heaven?”
Perhaps for each the circumstance can look different, but the choice remains the same.
This is where we choose to fall asleep to the spiritual battle or to surrender to the Father in Jesus name.
We seek how to comfort the physical and surrvive in the present world, or we prepare in the present to be faithful in the test, to deny the physical and deny this present life for love of the Father and future glory.
This is the prayer of Gethsemane, this is the good Christian’s story.
“This Present Future: A Prayer From Gethsemane”
This present future is the greatest battle for any to see,
To surrender to what lies ahead being faithul presently
This the battle and birth of true Christianity.
The bitter cup of this present time
Do I stand in a bitter fight, set to battle with all my might -
Do I crumble in fear, drifting farther into the night,
Or, as in the midst of a storm as it billows, do I fall to my face,
In this present storm do I cry out for grace or forfiet the race?
Matthew 26:3
Matthew 26:
A prayer for mercy in a submissive bow
A prayer for mercy in a submissive bow
A prayer for mercy in a submissive bow
My own stregnth surrendered as I hit the ground.
The flesh rages against the spirit,
The blinding shadows of desctruction, I’ve never felt so near it.
The battle is not of survival, but surrender
So, let this humanity become the least of me,
Knowing with certainty, the everlasting which I seek;
Father, not mine, but Thy will be done.
Father, not mine, but Thy will be done.
Father, not mine, but Thy will be done.
Father, Thy will be done, not mine.
Father, Thy will be done, not mine.
Let it echo three times in the hollows of the night.
This my cry, my weapon of choice throughout life’s great fight.
Alone and surrounded I pray.
Great danger, yet I rest assured if this path be Your chosen way.
The world sleeps, while the spirit battles
The world sleeps, while the serpant’s tale rattles.
Matthew 26:
“Oh Father this present moment further engulfs me.
Again I pray,
Show me Your glory, set it before me in victory,
my struggle I confess, beyond the fear and pain I cannot see.
In this present time, make Your future present to me,
Give me intimacy with the glory that my eyes shall see.
Let not the flesh win in its fleeting captivity,
Father, not as I will, but as you will...
deliver me.
Matthew 26:42-
Discouragment may she have no place with me,
Lonliness, be not permitted to vent in self-pitty,
Pride is but a vulnerable show, consuming thy soul
While vanity robs one of sanity
Focuss on the battle set before thee,
Arm thyself on bended knee
Fatigue of flesh, makes vulnerable the spirit,
Open my eyes that I may see, my ears to hear it.
The future is present in the battle current and drawing near,
Give me faithfulness in the midst of great fear.
Matthew 26:45
In this present moment the future has come,
In this present night, through life laid down, see the rising sun.
One step ahead, one prayer beyond,
sleep not now if you are to be prepared for the dawn.
This bitter cup of this present time,
I drink for you, by Thy stregnth oh Lord, I make it mine.
The present I surrender, while the future I grasp
The future I grasp at this present moment
Letting go of what will pass, securing what will last.
This bitter cup of this present time,
My child do not sleep on this calling of mine.
Arise from your slumber and fall upon your face,
Surrender Your will to that of the Father, and know His infinate grace.
In this present time, the betrayer is at hand,
Thus, Arise and let us be going:
Upon the Fathers eternal will, I call you to stand.
Bearing present suffering, bound in future glory.
This our humble prayer,
“Father, not as I will, but as You will”
The song of the Saints, the faithfuls triumphant story.
The example set before us.
In this present future,
The present called
To Jesus our Lord be given all honor, praise and glory.
Amen.
