Sermon Tone Analysis

As we take communion we are walking on sacred ground together.

This is not simply a tradition or religious activity…far from it.

This is a transcendent moment…Christ is with us.

We are joining Him at the table and the bread reminds us of His body being given for us and Him being our source of life…and the wine reminds us of the sacrifice He has made with His own blood to cover our sin…His blood literally shed for us.

It also represents a covenant…the new covenant…that our salvation has come to us because God Himself has done it in us…we have a new heart…and His very Spirit in us…and therefore we are His and He is ours.

The Bible teaches that only those who have repented of their sins and believed in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior should take communion (, ).

So, whether you are a first-time visitor or a long-time member, if you've repented and believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, please take communion with us!

However, if you have not repented and believed yet, please don't take communion until you have.

Let us together remember and give praise for what our Lord did for us, his people, on the cross.

So it is also a proclamation...us proclaiming to the Lord and to each other that we are united…and He is the Lord!

For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you.

Do this in remembrance of me.”

In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood.

Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

We are to be devoted to it.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

It is not to be taken if holding unforgiveness against another brother or sister in Christ.

Let us together remember and give praise for what our Lord did for us, his people, on the cross.

So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go.

First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
