As we take communion we are walking on sacred ground together.
This is not simply a tradition or religious activity…far from it.
This is a transcendent moment…Christ is with us.
We are joining Him at the table and the bread reminds us of His body being given for us and Him being our source of life…and the wine reminds us of the sacrifice He has made with His own blood to cover our sin…His blood literally shed for us.
It also represents a covenant…the new covenant…that our salvation has come to us because God Himself has done it in us…we have a new heart…and His very Spirit in us…and therefore we are His and He is ours.
The Bible teaches that only those who have repented of their sins and believed in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior should take communion (, ).
So, whether you are a first-time visitor or a long-time member, if you've repented and believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, please take communion with us!
However, if you have not repented and believed yet, please don't take communion until you have.
We still very much welcome you here and desire your good, primarily for you to be saved and then joyfully join with us in all that we do for God's glory, including communion.
It is also a covenant…the new covenant…our salvation has come to us because God Himself has also done it in us…we have a new heart…and His very Spirit…and therefore we are His and He is ours.
So it is also a proclamation..us proclaiming to the Lord and to each other that we are united…and He is the Lord!
