We’ve been in a
The wisdom of God follows an opposite track as the wisdom of the world.
The world celebrates power, prestige, and performance. It reserves its affections for humanity before all else. Worldly wisdom is about toward getting gain in this life right now.
Yet, godly wisdom teaches that God’s glory is supreme.
God made humanity to be with Him in peace, that we might serve Him and that He may bless us.
Godly wisdom celebrates human humility & lowliness, trust in the Lord, and the promise of incomprehensible gain in heaven with the Lord.
Godly wisdom culminates in greatness and glory. Yet, until the day when all is revealed, it appears weak and lowly.
In this humble appearance, worldly wisdom despises godly wisdom as foolish, a wasted life. But to the one who believes in the Lord, it is the power of God.
The cornerstone of godly wisdom is the gospel.
Specifically, I point out the cross. It is singularly the most important, powerful, and life-changing event in history.
Yet, it did not look as though at the time. Even today, the worldly wise mock it and belittle it as weakness. But as Paul says in

The event of the cross, Calvary, is precious to us as Christians. While the world boasts in men and human accomplishment, Christians make the cross their boast.

The word propitiation means wrath-bearing substitute. Jesus took our personal punishment, an eternity in hell, upon Himself. He satisfied and appeased the wrath of God toward us for our sin.

4. You may not have recognized it for the taunts and insults tossed at Jesus, but the execution by crucifixion is the example Jesus set for His followers.
He suffered and died in His life for us and He tells us to love others through giving ourselves up for others, even suffering for them and even dying for them.

On the cross, there was an abundance of beautiful spiritual work which took place through the suffering.

Yet, the effect of this work is so monumental, mighty, and extravagant that it compelled Christians to take the cross and claim it as the symbol of their faith. We have made the cross our boast, because nothing in this world, or in ourselves approaches the significance of Jesus' work on the cross.
