The Worthy One

A. The Crimson Flow Trickles Through the Bible
1. Blood flows from the first lamb slain to the cross
2. The ultimate sacrifice of the Lamb of God brought salvation
B. None of the Old Testament Sacrifices Could Save
1. The unworthy blood of animals could not take away sins ()
Hebrews 10:4 NKJV
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
2. These sacrifices were but types of the saving one to come ()
Hebrews 10:5–10 NKJV
5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. 7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’ ” 8 Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
C. The One Who Died on the Cross Is the Worthy One. Let’s see why He is worthy...

He is Worthy Because He is Holy

Revelation 4:8 NKJV
8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”
1. "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty"
2. Jesus was the spotless Lamb of God
Roger Campbell. Preach for a Year: 104 Sermon Outlines (Preach for a Year Series): 7 (Kindle Locations 445-448). Kindle Edition.
a. When tempted, He stood the test triumphantly ()
b. Even Pilate could find no fault in Him ()
c. Peter and John said He was holy ()
d. The writer of Hebrews called Him holy, harmless, and undefiled ()
3. This Holy One is then the perfect substitute for sinners. Jesus is the only one who could die for the sin of the world. He died for you and He died for me.

He is Worthy Because He is the Creator

“You have created all things” John insisted this is one of the reasons He is Worthy.
The Creator gave Himself on the cross for His sinful created ones.
Heaven sings a song of Redemption ()
Revelation 5:9 NKJV
9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
We have been bought back by the sacrifice at Calvary.
As a result of the cross, the best is yet to come.
The future is bright because the Worthy One paid for our sins with His blood.

He is Worthy Because of the Resurrection

Revelation 5:14 NKJV
14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.
This Worthy One rose from the grave and will live forever.
He overcame the devil.
He overcame sin.
He overcame death and the grave.
All creatures in the universe will someday call Him Worthy.
They will bow to Him and declare that He is Lord .
Philippians 2:10–11 NKJV
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Conclusion...
A. We have a fully qualified Savior
1. This Worthy Savior responds to the call of unworthy sinners.
2. Have you called upon Him for salvation?
B. The cross was in God’s plan from the beginning.
Respond in faith to the love of the Worthy One and be saved today.
