Call Her Blessed

Proverbs 31:28 (NIV) Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

Introduction: Being a mother can be hard. - Friends of one young mother with three young children were surprised when they received this thank you note after they had given her a play pen: "Many thanks for the play pen. It is being used everyday from 2 to 3 pm. I get in it to read and the children can’t get near me"

It may be hard, but it said that the hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world.  Mothers hold a very important position, and honor is due them. There are several reasons to honor mothers.

A.1Now the man knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have produced a man with the help of the LORD.”

B.     To Families

B.Genesis 13:16 (NRSV)

B.16I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth; so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted.

B.     Gaurding family heritage - The tribes of Israel…The tribe of…..

C.     Gaurding national heritage - The Character of a nation rests on its raisingof children.

III.                 Honor Mothers as Guides To Life

A.     Guiding a soul - an everlasting person

B.     Guiding a heritage - Nurturing

C.     Guiding a nation - The Character of a nation

IV.                A Charge to Mothers

A.     Be godly for your Children - God will judge your children

B.     Be godly for your heritage - That those that wait be not disappointed.

C.     Be godly for your nation - God will judge the nations

D.    Be godly for yourself - as one accountable

Conclusion:

A Mothers Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for this child that I call mine; not my possession but my sacred charge. Teach me patience and humility so that the best I know may flow in its being. Let me always remember, parental love is my natural instinct but my child's love must ever be deserved and earned; That for love I must give love, That for understanding I must give understanding, That for respect, I must give respect; That as I was the giver of life, so must I be the giver always. Help me to share my child with life and not toclutch at it for my own sake. Give courage to do my share to make this world a better place for all children and my own.
