Introduction

Caracteristics expected of the citizen
Matthew 16:24 ESV
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
Denying self is putting God first, above our own desire.
Many things you could do Sundays, but you put God first. Next weekend is Easter.
Seeking forgiveness, when we feel they did wrong. This is an act of humbling self.
Take your cross
"Take your cross daily”
Taking the cross is taking full responsability of all accusations toward our behalf. (Lets really understand what it meant for Christ to take up HIS cross.
This will lead us to quickly seek forgiveness. Blessed are the peacemaker for they are the sons of God.
I believe this can also be saying that we are to face our trials and tribulations daily. Many people are runners for trials/tribulations.
Follow me
Finally, I want to take this command to follow me as God challenging us to follow His leadership, not ours.
When you are ready to give up, He says follow me (My Marriage) (Me as a Pastor)
I don’t think it’s easy to follow HIM, but I also believe it’s possible.
3 Characteristic that will help us live well in the Kingdom of God.

We can’t live well in the Kingdom without really living in the spirit.

Everything about the Kingdom is spirit lead and not necessary logic lead.
The Kingdom of God does not consist of bread and water.
1 Corinthians 4:20 ESV
For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.
the Kingdom of God is not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but the power of the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:17 ESV
For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
Galatians 5:17
We really need to know the voice of the Spirit that lives in us.
John 10:27 ESV
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
God calls us to be sheeps.
How will we know His voice:
Scripture
Knowing when the Holy Spirit speaks to our heart.
Hebrews 8:10 ESV
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
ESV
Hebrews 8:10 ESV
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
The prophetic voice (be careful with this one). A prophetic message will confirm God’s message.
Matthew 18:16 ESV
But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.
Matthew 18:16)
Godly council
The peace of God. A fruit of the Spirit.
Godly timing. (Example of Godly timing we find in ()
Acts 18:1–3 ESV
After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. And he went to see them, and because he was of the same trade he stayed with them and worked, for they were tentmakers by trade.
This speaks of total dependent.

Not only citizen, but sons of God

John 1:12–13 ESV
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:
How are you living as part of the colony of God?
Are you one that needs realignment with regards to your walk in the Kingdom of God. Let me pray for you.
