The Triumphal Entry
All four Gospels record this occasion and its significance.
Jesus has come to Bethphage which means house of unripe figs.
He is just about 2 miles outside of Jerusalem.
Jesus sends two of his disciples to get a donkey and her colt for Him.
Matthew 21:
Matthew
This quote is from
Jesus enters Jerusalem not on a great horse and but on a colt.
A young donkey.
A horse is a king would ride into battle.
A colt of a donkey was ridden as an animal of peace.
From a Hummer to a Cadillac.
Jesus arrives humble and in peace.
The disciples went as instructed.
A very large crowd spread their cloaks and branches to make a path of royalty for Christ the King.
The crowds shouted Hosanna!
Hosanna!
The words with which the Savior was welcomed by the multitude are drawn from...
Psalm 118:25
“Lord, save us!”
The Hebrew word here is Hosanna which is translated “Save now.”
Our Lord forces Jerusalem to consider His claims for one final moment.
I would like to do the same here.
I want you to consider the claims Jesus himself made.
Some are here and have considered this many times and have halfheartedly believed.
Some here and have believed this is nothing more than a nice story.
Some here know that this is so much more than a nice story.
They have totally surrendered to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Which are you?
In a moment we are going to have a great time.
There will be joy and fun.
But that “feeling of joy” will flee quickly is you believe this is just a nice story or halfheartedly call yourself a Christian.
