(NKJV)

Matthew 7:7–11 NKJV
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Prayer

Matthew 7:7–12 NKJV
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Prayer

Most gracious Heavenly father, I thank you for your many blessings. I thank you for your word. Father I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ. Father anything that is within me that is not of you, father I pray that you take it from me now. Father I don’t take it lightly that you have chosen me to use as your vessel at this appointed time. Lord God may your people be strengthened by this message and may you receive all the glory. Let your people hear all of you and none of me. Hide me behind your cross Lord. Have your way now in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Introduction

Continual prayer is the secret to accomplishment: asking, seeking, and knocking. The goal is not a fixed time of prayer but rather a lifestyle in which prayer becomes like the air we breathe. The promise is absolute. Even if the instructions previously given seem impossible to follow, God will give believers the ability to follow them when we abide in Him (). Answered prayer is guaranteed because these prayers are based upon the relationship of the disciples of Jesus with God, who responds to them as Father. Their prayers may not be answered as specifically requested because they do not have the Father’s perspective on what is ultimately best.
God promises to hear and respond to the prayers of his people, when we pray in the name of his Son and according to his will.
Today I will be speaking briefly from the topic “God’s Promises Concerning Prayer”.

Points of Application

God expects his people to make requests of him in prayer.
As followers of Jesus, we are commanded to ask for what we need.
When God’s people pursue something—by asking, seeking, knocking—God responds in faithfulness and generosity.

God is still the one who allows for this action to take place

God is the one who answers prayers

The qualifiers about asking in prayer and with faith restrict the requests that God will grant. He will not give the disciples their every whim and desire; He will grant those things that align with His will and plan for the kingdom.

God will not give us our every whim and desire; God will grant the things that align with His will and plan for the kingdom.
