Walking in Your Purpose (outline)

Walking in Your Purpose
Walking in Your Purpose
Rev. Claude L. White, Jr. / General
Calling; Purpose; Joseph forgives his brothers; Joseph (patriarch) /
Walking in Your Purpose
FCF: We don’t seem to live purposefully. We seem to quit when life hurts. We ignore the reality that God is in control.
Proposition: God is sovereign and has purposed us all in His divine will.

To Walk In Your Purpose You Must Know God Is With You (; )

When you are misunderstood ()
Genesis 37:5–8 ESV
Now Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers they hated him even more. He said to them, “Hear this dream that I have dreamed: Behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright. And behold, your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to my sheaf.” His brothers said to him, “Are you indeed to reign over us? Or are you indeed to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.
When you are mistreated()
Genesis 37:18–23 ESV
They saw him from afar, and before he came near to them they conspired against him to kill him. They said to one another, “Here comes this dreamer. Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.” But when Reuben heard it, he rescued him out of their hands, saying, “Let us not take his life.” And Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood; throw him into this pit here in the wilderness, but do not lay a hand on him”—that he might rescue him out of their hand to restore him to his father. So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe, the robe of many colors that he wore.
When you are manipulated()
Genesis 39:7–12 ESV
And after a time his master’s wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, “Lie with me.” But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Behold, because of me my master has no concern about anything in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my charge. He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” And as she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not listen to her, to lie beside her or to be with her. But one day, when he went into the house to do his work and none of the men of the house was there in the house, she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out of the house.
ILLUS: Haddon Robinson Speaks of a time when he had such confidence in his father that when he walked with him there was no such fear. When he faced a dog he stood his ground because he knew his father would protect him.
Transition: Likewise we must show this same type of confidence with God. Regardless of what we face we do it knowing God will take care of us.
Application: On your job trust God. In your home, trust God. In the mall, at the Church trust God.
Look, do your best and what is right regardless of the consequences or ramification and I assure you God will take care of you.

To Walk In Your Purpose You Must Continue Using Your Gift

When life is miserable ()
Genesis 39:20 ESV
And Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison.
When others forget you()
Genesis 40:23 ESV
Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
ILLUS: A Lesson from the Gulls
Application: When you feel unappreciated how do you respond? Do you throw in the towel? Do you walk away? Do you quit? Allow me to suggest that quitting is not an option; Walking away is not the correct answer. When you feel unappreciated, when you do your best and no one seems to care, hears what you do: Say “to God be the glory” and then get back to it. See, that’s to remind you that what you are doing is not for man but so that God would be glorified.

To Walk In Your Purpose You Must Forgive Those Who Hurt You ()

Genesis 50:20 ESV
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
1. perhaps God allowed your pain to help you & them
2. give them your best
3. Show them your heart of Love
Application: Take a moment and think about how blessed you are right now. now think back at how you got to where you are. None of the evil that was done to you has prevented you from being where God has placed you. As a matter of fact some of their attacks helped you. you ought to just raise your hand and say thank you.
