Acts 19:1–2 KJV 1900
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

Heart-Stirring Sermon Outlines 7. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit (Acts 19:1, 2)

The Holy Spirit is the key to living a holy life. You cannot live a holy life without the Holy Spirit. There is a general ignorance today concerning the person and work of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of this message is to clarify in your minds things which you need to know concerning “The Ministry of the Holy Spirit.”

WHO THE HOLY SPIRIT IS

a. The Holy Spirit is God
Acts 5:3–4 KJV 1900
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
b. The Holy Spirit Is A Person
John 14:17 KJV 1900
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
c. The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity.

d. The Holy Spirit is Omnipresent

e. The Holy Spirit is Omniscient

f. The Holy Spirit is Omnipotent

WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT DOES IN RELATION TO THE SAVED.

A. He abides in the Christian’s heart through the new birth.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
b. He dwells in the Christian’s body as His temple
1 Corinthians 3:16 KJV 1900
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

C. He adopts the individual into God’s family

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

D. He seals the Christian until the day of the final redemption into Heaven

H. He desires to pray (make intercession) for the Christian

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

I. He desires to perfect the person of Christ in the Christian’s life
ROM. 8:28-

WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT DOES IN RELATION TO THE UNSAVED

A. He strives with the sinner in regard to his sinful condition

B. He strives with the sinner in regard to his sinful condition

C. He desires to work the miracle of the new birth in the sinner’s life
Conclusion: To ignore and quench the Holy Spirit is to doom the sinner to a Christ-less eternity. For the believer to be ignorant of the working of the Holy Spirit is to be doomed to a useless life on earth and a life without reward in Heaven.
