Jn 6:16-27. Tony van Drimmelen. Jesus’ purposes for us are always the best – even if we think otherwise.  After the miracle of the feeding of the 5,000, Jesus confirms his own purpose for coming into the world.  He withdraws from the crowds and sends his disciples on by boat across the sea.  Then with absolute control over all the forces of nature and with words that are gentle and insightful Jesus rescues his disciples from certain destruction during a storm.  This is a sign, says John, that will help us to believe and have eternal life.  How thankful we can be that Jesus stays on course and has accomplished the rescue plan that saves us from destruction now and always.
