I Thirst

Was Jesus Thirsty?
Exodus story - Exodus 7-8
Rock struck for water
Jesus - I am that rock, I quench your thirst
Matthew 5:6 ESV
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
What do you thirst for?
Samaritan - enemy of Jews
Woman had baggage
We all are thirsty
How do you quench your thirst?
Don’t get it - look in the wrong places
Everything else makes us thirsty
Jesus quenches
vs 16-26 - dealing with the sin - caused the thirst
From needy to needed
vs 14 - not just quenched - become an artisan well
vs 39 - flowed out to the whole town
we will do more
John 14:12 ESV
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
Need, Seed, & Feed
need - Jesus meets us out of love
we see it because of love
seed - Jesus is our seed hope that will grow
we cast our seeds -
feed - move from needy to needed
faith move us to action
James 2:18 ESV
But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
Thirst no more
dying of thirst
drowning
pouring out
The key to Christian living is a thirst and hunger for God. And one of the main reasons people do not understand or experience the sovereignty of grace and the way it works through the awakening of sovereign joy is that their hunger and thirst for God is so small.
