When Jesus Has A Question

We all have questions...
My kids have questions.. mostly like.. can I have this candy.. NOPE!
Ayden - Good Questions —
“Why Did God Make Noah Bring All The Animals?”
Ayden - Good Questions — “What Is The Prayer of Faith” “What
“Is God Male or Female?”
“What Is The Prayer of Faith?”
“Did The Walls of Jericho Fall Straight Down, or Sideways?”
“Why Is Communion Important?”
“Why Was The Devil Called The Morning Star?” (referring to
“Why Was Moses Chosen?”
Those questions are all fine and dandy.. but when it boils right down to it. We rarely lose sleep over someone else’s questions.
We all have got our OWN questions.
“Lord, what is your PERFECT WILL for my life?
“Lord, what are you saying to me through your Word today?”
“.....Lord, are ya there…?”
WE ALL HAVE QUESTIONS
1st Question
Jesus Question As A Child
Luke 2:41–50 KJV 1900
41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. 43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. 44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. 45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. 48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? 50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
Luke 2:41-
Let’s Look Closer At Verse 49
Luke 2:49 KJV 1900
49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
2nd Question
Probably Jesus first recorded question in His Adult Public Ministry is found in
Mark 2:1–12 KJV 1900
1 And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. 2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. 3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. 6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, 7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? 8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? 9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? 10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) 11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. 12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
Look a little closer at the questions
Mark 2:8–9 KJV 1900
8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? 9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
Mark 2:8
Basically what we read here, is Jesus asking those around him...
“You really think I don’t know what this man needs?
I see His physically dilemma...
But, I ALSO SEE THE STATE IN WHICH HE IS FAR WORSE OFF..
HE IS A SINNER IN NEED OF MY FORGIVENESS!
DO YOU THINK THAT IT IS EASIER FOR ME TO SAY TO THIS MAN.. YOU’RE FORGIVEN..
OR GET ON OUT OF THAT SICK BED, AND WALK?”
The very first question from the mouth of Jesus in His public ministry is this..
“YOU REALLY THINK I CAN’T HANDLE WHATEVER PROBLEM YOUR DEALING WITH?
I AM THE GOD OF FORGIVENESS!
I AM ALSO THE GOD OF POWER TO PERFORM!
YOU HAVE NEVER KNOWN A NEED THAT I WILL NOT MEET!”
3rd Question
Another one of, again if not the first recorded question Jesus asks in his public ministry in adulthood is found in the sermon on the mount in
Matthew 5:13 KJV 1900
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Jesus first makes a statement to the listening audience of followers, to help make alive to them their purpose and true identity
SALT OF THE EARTH =
SALT OF THE EARTH =
The sermon of the mount is believed to have been on a particular mountain near the Sea of Galilee, which is only about 90 miles from a body of water known as the Dead Sea.
The concentration of salt in the Dead Sea is ten times higher than that of any other sea or lake on earth. Every liter of its sea water contains an average of 30 grams of salts and other minerals. It is one of the greatest sources of salt in the world.
Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations 2585 Greatest Salt Source

No animal or plant can exist here. Few fish are found in it, although it is not true that birds which venture near its vapour fall down dead.

Because of its high specific gravity, no one will ever sink or drown while bathing there. Nobody has ever committed suicide there by drowning. It was said that Vespasian, commander of the Roman legion which later destroyed Jerusalem in AD 70, heard of this fact. He tested it by ordering slaves to be thrown into the sea waves with their hands and feet tied. The slaves floated.

Because of its high specific gravity, no one will ever sink or drown while bathing there. Nobody has ever committed suicide there by drowning.
To the listener, who would be well aware of the importance and power of salt..
Jesus is making a strong connection!
If we would but for a moment understand why our lives are called to be salty!
“Ye are the salt of the earth.” One suggestion after another was made as to the meaning of “salt” in this verse.
Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations 3094 Salt Creates Thirst

“Ye are the salt of the earth.” One suggestion after another was made as to the meaning of “salt” in this verse.

“Salt imparts a desirable flavor,” said one.

“Salt preserves from decay,” another suggested.

Then a Chinese Christian girl spoke out of an experience none of the others had. “Salt creates thirst,” she said, and there was a sudden hush in the room. Everyone was thinking: Have I ever made anyone thirsty for the Lord Jesus Christ?

“Salt imparts a desirable flavor” - ever had canned green beans without salt?
“Salt preserves from decay” - salt-cured ham!

“Salt creates thirst” - The human body can't live without some sodium. It's needed to transmit nerve impulses, contract and relax muscle fibers (including those in the heart and blood vessels), and maintain a proper fluid balance.
Matthew 5:13 NLT
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
Matthew 5:13 NET
“You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its flavor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people.
One of the first questions Jesus asks in his Adult ministry, is basically summed up like this...
“I am calling you to impart my desirable life to this searching world..
I am calling you, not to sit on a spiritual shelf of uselessness, but to permeate society, and preserve it from utter decay, with my Life being the message you deliver!
And for Heaven’s sake, GO MAKE SOMEONE THIRSTY FOR WHAT IS LIVING INSIDE OF YOU!
DON’T COMPRISE AND LOSE THE SALTINESS OF YOUR LIFE..
But on the other hand, DON’T OVER DOSE THE WORLD FROM YOUR SALTINESS
Allow my life in you to make people thirsty for my
holiness
heartbeat
higher-calling!
If your life doesn’t produce a similar characteristics within the world around you.. what good are you?”
If your life doesn’t produce a similar reaction within the world around you.. what good are you?
YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH!
Matt 5:43-
4th Question
Another Question or Group of Questions Comes just a few paragraphs down in verses 43-48.
Matthew 5:43–48 KJV 1900
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Specifically, the questions we want to look at are those found in
Matthew 5:46–47 KJV 1900
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
Matt 5:46-47
Publicans = tax collectors.
Considered traitors to the Jewish audience because they worked for the government of Rome by insuring the conquered Jewish subjects paid up to Caesar.
They were hated by all orthodox people!
Matthew 5:46 KJV 1900
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Love = agape (love that produces an action that results for the better of the one receiving it.) Agape Love is a warm, heartfelt, and costly sacrificial type of love.
Reward = wage
Matthew 5:47 KJV 1900
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
Salute = welcome someone in a manner which is ready to show favor to that person.
And do you wanna know when you are fulfilling the Father’s perfect will for your life?
When you can actually look out for the best interest of the one who is doing ya wrong!
Matthew 5:48 KJV 1900
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Matt 5:

Main Point:

The God who spoke and worlds were formed...
The God who has formed galaxies still yet unknown to mankind..
The God who spoke and worlds were formed...
The God who spoke and worlds were formed...
The God who knows all about all...
When Jesus Has A Question...
It’s not spurred from His ignorance… but ours!
He only questions your life, to bring you to a greater understanding of WHO HE IS.. AND WHAT HE IS CAPABLE OF DOING IN YOUR SITUATION.
When Jesus Has A Question About Your Life… it is not to humiliate you to the public...
but IT IS SO YOU CAN LEARN TO RELY UPON HIS SUFFICIENT CHARACTER EVEN IN YOUR INSUFFICIENCY!
