Mauri in High School

VIDEO - Cotillion Awards
Cue: “Check this out”
Mustang Report
Chief Editor - got to choose special projects at school
Picked my team,
Life seemed good and well put together.
Wouldn’t you say that everything looked put together?
“From the outside looking in, everything looked perfect. But reality is, that my perspective was very different. From the inside looking out, there was something missing. And i looked everywhere to try to fill that hole.”
The Reality:
School - Ap classes / Struggling and failing
Sports - Horrible / Did it to fit in / to be liked
Theatre - Stressed and unfulfilling
Work - Took all my time and $$ didn’t satisfy
Friends - Never home BUT had superficial relationships
Family - Yell fest / Parents always angry about grades & mistakes
Girlfriend - Atheist / immoral relationship
Film - Drive for perfection Pushed people away
Desperate need for something: I had a hole and I couldn’t fill it?
I looked to fill that hole everywhere BUT the right place. No matter where I looked nothing satisfied.
What about you
Grew up in church
Grew up hearing
But I Avoided it // NOT THAT I DIDN’T KNOW
UNTIL… I met a girl
I was creepy / Stared
Something weird : A Jesus girl
Dragged me to a church youth event
LIKE THIS: And I didn’t know that was the beginning of life.
Romans 3:23 ESV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:10–18 ESV
10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” 13 “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.” 14 “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.” 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 in their paths are ruin and misery, 17 and the way of peace they have not known.” 18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
I had no fear of God. Anytime I did something, I knew it was wrong. But I would put God into a corner and ignore him. But with each time I did that, the conviction got stronger.
Romans 5:12 ESV
12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
You and I have no excuse. We were born into sin!
SIN: to miss a specified goal or mark.
SIN: Student jumping to reach the mark.
Romans 6:23 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
There is a price for missing the mark. = Bc God is JUST / Bc He is God.
Romans 5:8 ESV
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God’s Love // John 3:16
Romans 10:9–10 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Romans 10:13 ESV
13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
All you have to do is trust in Jesus and you will be saved from that penalty:
Make Jesus your Lord: the Boss of your life by Believing that God raised Him from the dead to bring you to life.
When you confess that / believe that… You are saved!
5 years & 10 months ago
On a Sunday night, In my 2nd semester of Junior year:
Depressed / Anxious
Unloved / Lonely
Go to that Youth Service
I see: A girl so focused on Jesus
I get angry and walk away
Truck / Driving
Yelling and crying to God
Almost flip
God stops me in a flash. When I realize that He’s been calling my name. And I had been ignoring Him. So, he sent people. Placed people. To let me know I was loved. that He wanted me. That I wasn’t alone. That He was the one I was looking for. He was the only one that could fill that hole.
So, I pulled over. CRYING harder than I’ve ever cried before. And I believed.
Have you believed? Have you trusted Him?
Or, are you just running around from event to event, from sport to club, from friends to girlfriends?
They won’t satisfy!
Matthew 11:28 NET
28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
