So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.
Keep focused - keep commited - keep going
We are in a series “I Love My Church”
Let me see everyone’s shirt!!!!
We are not talking about the church here but in general, God’s church.
Let’s look at the 11th commandment, Yes we do have 11 commands Jesus said so...
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
If you love something you let people know about it because you care for them and want them to experience what you have.
So my heart and passion that God wants to do in our church is something that every church isn’t doing.
We are not influencing culture, culture is influencing the church.
God said to have dominion, and multiply and even Jesus confirmed it by saying Go and make disciples in all the world. Same root word to multiply
Is the church, dominating this world with the influence of God’s standards and morals?
No, so we need a new breed of followers that carry the ambassador anointing.
The church has become great at producing a PRODUCT and in this process has forfeited the POWER to do so.
Last week we went over this and decided not to go to church but to be the church.
I was asked by someone about my shirt and gave me an opportunity to share. ANY one else?
So today we want to go deeper into creating a church with God’s power and not a product to please.
Community
People that have a common unity= it unites us. Our common goal.
Why church? Why Jesus? Why believe? Why keep coming?
So our purpose should be to love our neighbors as Jesus said and let them know of this great big hope.
This isn’t a campaign to grow El Paso 1st , this is a campaign to grow God’s Kingdom
So in order to understand this and produce a church with power and not product we need to understand God’s principle and His word on the matter.
So before we can GO OUT, we need to GO IN…
Promise to Power - Joshua 1
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: 2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Remember God had a plan for His people and even after they traveled for 40 years their clothes or shoes didn’t even wear out, so do you think God wants His people sick or broke and hurting? (Duet 29:5)
I know God wants His people as examples of His goodness
So there is the promise of power, God will be with you and give you all you need and deliver you and not allow sickness to be in your camp and for us never to be in bondage.
6 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. 2 And the Lord said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. 3 You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. 4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”
The people of Jericho were terrified, the city was shut down
God is with you, you don’t even know who you are, cause let me tell you that the enemy is terrified of you
People had a choice to produce the product or see the power
There was 4000 people in the city and over 2 million of God’s people
So why march?
Obedience…
27 So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout all the country.
Result is power…
7 But the children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; so the anger of the Lord burned against the children of Israel.
Achan took…He coveted (desired)
Because of this God wasn’t with them and allowed defeat in their life to gain the attention.
They went with 3000 to fight a lesser foe, but lost because of SIN
Joshua didn’t understand and started to complain and ask God why...
20 And Achan answered Joshua and said, “Indeed I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel, and this is what I have done: 21 When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them
So for one man’s sin and desire the nation suffered… What is your desire? What Product do you want???? Or Gods power in your life?
God tells Joshua “Get UP”
10 So the Lord said to Joshua: “Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face? 11 Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff
What have you taken that belongs to God or what sin have you desired and given into and placed it with your own stuff?
So what do we need to do?
Get UP
19 Now Joshua said to Achan, “My son, I beg you, give glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession to Him, and tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me.”
Confess to GOD, if not you will not be able to stand you will always fall.
24 Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and they brought them to the Valley of Achor. 25 And Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? The Lord will trouble you this day.” So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.
Get rid of it...
God wants to bless you anyway but it needs to be done His way
8 Now the Lord said to Joshua: “Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; take all the people of war with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land. 2 And you shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king. Only its spoil and its cattle you shall take as booty for yourselves
Product or power?
Before we can go out and share and have the power behind the promise we need to check our tents, look at what’s buried, hidden
We need to be open before God so He can do what only He can
Let’s just not talk about power and promise let us demonstrate through humility and repentance
