Obedience
Jesus commanded us to be baptized and to baptize others.
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, aI am with you 1always, even to bthe end of the age.”
In the Great and Only Commission, Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” .
Baptism is the first act of obedience.
The entire Christian life is listening to what Jesus tells us and then doing whatever He says.
Our entire lives are to be characterized by obedience.

Testimony
By submitting to baptism, we are testifying to others that we affirm that Jesus died for our sins, was entombed, and then rose again the third day.
“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
Baptism is an expression of our belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

Identification
By submitting to baptism, we are affirming our own death to self, burial of the old self, and being raised to walk in the newness of life.
Jesus said, ““If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. .
“The Apostle Paul said, “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. .

Witness
By submitting to baptism, we allow others to see our commitment to Christ.
Many times the strength of our actions speak far louder and much more clearly than all our words combined.
Jesus said, “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Baptism is one of the very first “good works” we do that others can see.
