The Trinity
Scripture is emphatically clear: there is only one God, and He is one (, , , , , , , , , , ).
With equal clarity God reveals His existence in the unity of the Godhead () .
That is that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit exist in the triune Godhead as distinct persons (, , , ), yet with one substance (, , , , ) and that they therefore are co-equal () and co-eternal.
This is the essence of the Trinity.
If we, with human eyes, are unable to fully comprehend this inestimable mystery, it is not an indictment of its theological truth, but rather a reality of the limitations of our nature.
We may not unblinking, stare into the brilliance of our sun, and we certainly are unable to gaze deeply into the revelation of the Trinity, with its blinding, divine, and glorious light.
"The historic formulation of the Trinity seeks to circumscribe and safeguard this mystery (not explain it; that is beyond us), and it confronts us with perhaps the most difficult thought that the human mind has ever been asked to handle.
It is not easy; but it is true."-J.I.
Packer

God the Father
1. Sovereignty
What it is:
God is sovereign over and above all things (, , ), by which we mean that nothing happens apart from His knowledge or will.
God created all things by His word (), and all things are sustained at His command ().
Because God is omniscient (), omnipresent (), and omnipotent (), nothing therefore can happen apart from from His definite knowledge, presence, or power.
No authority in heaven or on earth may ever thwart His purpose (); He knows and ordains the ends of things before their beginning ().
The hosts of heaven obey His word (, ), the principalities of darkness are subject to His present and future judgement (, ), the hearts of kings are in His hands (), and He orders the steps of men ().
Most of all, God is sovereign in His plan of salvation (), to which the Son of God subjected himself, being slain before the foundation of the world for the redemption of man, according to the sovereign plan of God the Father ().
In short, over all things past, present, and future, God reigns ()!
