What has the gospel done in your life?
What has the gospel done in your life?
are you comfortable sharing the gospel? How well do you know it? could you share it with anyone?

Last week we talked about Christian growth, and as we see ourselves grow, it affect the church. Our growth causes the church to grow. speaking of church growth, we sometimes think growth is more people.... not so. more people can be a sign that the individuals in the church are growing though. since as a Christian grows, they play a part in the spreading of the gospel message and discipleship of the believers. as that works, we will most certainly see more people come to church.
are you comfortable sharing the gospel? How well do you know it? could you share it with anyone?
So one aspect of our church to grow, we all need to be prepared to share the gospel. as soon as you become a believer you can tell someone what Jesus did for you. And as you grow, the depth of the gospel makes our experience richer and richer. let’s go there today and discover depths of the gospel.
Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,

Paul, speaking to the Corinthians, reminds them the gospel.... he is preaching it again.
also, see that it was what he first recieved.... we must receive the gospel to be able to share it.
the gospel being explained by Paul connects back to the scriptures, his scriptures that he read which were the old testament books like Isaiah, Daniel,
the Gospel, or good news can be summed up in one word.
Redemption. but this word implies so much. Redemption is buying back, restoring, or clearing a debt.
So being redeemed first implies the need for redemption.
knowing the need and understanding the answer is where the salvation process begins.
everyone who is saved, or redeemed has realized that they needed redemption. in other words, there was something realized. Before their Creator, the sense that something wasn’t right. And that is it. the relationship wasn’t right between God and mankind. each individual needs to come to this. we see the beginning of the break in relationship in Genesis.
And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Jesus called satan a liar, and here we see the twisting of truth. the woman fell for it.
Should we ask the question ‘why” here?
why did mankind sin?
we can certainly learn that God did not make robots out of us to just obey without any freedom to choose. He did make us in His image and yet we are not God, so we see the separation from Him as mankind falls away from God’s will and discovers their own will, their own judgement, their own wisdom, if you will. in defiance of God’s will.
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.
And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
IF we have not realized this in our own life, then how are we redeemed? If we do not believe that we have done anything wrong before God then we would not need redemption, would we?
Some people in this world think they are all set and have no need of God because their lives seem so good at the time. If we are going to share the good news with them, we must reveal their position before God.
Have they done anything that was wrong? If they believe there is a Creator that made them, they will need to ask the question, how does my Creator look at my wrongdoing?
everyone is different. as you talk with people, you get a sense of where they are at by how they talk and what they do. remember the sower during those times.....
And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

the seed landing in many different areas…some on the path and stony ground, some in the weeds, some on good soil. this parable is about seeds planted in the heart. everyone has a certain heart condition.

the seed landing in many different areas…some stony ground, some in the weeds, some on good soil. this parable is about seeds planted in the heart. everyone has a certain heart condition which can change over time.
sometimes the heart needs to go through events, trials, and struggles, similar to the ground being tilled, being turned up and mixed around, taking the stones out. God is working through all the events in life.
do you remember the heart conditions you had in life? what did God do in your life to get you in a place to receive His good news?
So, as we talk with others, we get a sense of where their heart is with God.
Ultimately for the gospel to get through to a person, it must be a God thing. We are simply messengers with a message of redemption of what Jesus has done.
therefore, people need to know the position they are in before God to realize the need for redemption.
I say all this because for you and I to know the depth of the gospel,
we must know the depths of sin, and as we realize that Jesus death on the cross was for every sin that all believers have ever done and will ever do, we see the incredible power of it.
He willingly went the full distance. Jesus did the very thing that was needed for redemption....a perfect life, and that perfect life sacrificed, the perfect in the place of the guilty. And that from Adam until the end of time.
Redeemed! you are redeemed!
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
He did it for us! He showed the world that He desired His creation and He has gone through the pain and suffering to do exactly what was needed.
We can’t for a minute think that it was easy or not much effort on the part of God to suffer as He poured His wrath on His Son..... and Jesus expressed the struggle the night before in the garden.
How many father’s could go through what our Father has done? Abraham was probably the closest example of sacrificing a son. what a picture of the future.
But even more, Jesus was perfect. He was the only person ever who didn’t sin. remember church that it is sin that causes death. Since Jesus never sinned, He would be the only one that ever lived who would not die.
there is something in us that is torn up when we see the innocent get hurt or killed. it is the justice in us, the sense of right and wrong. for an innocent person to get killed just seems wrong to us, as it should.
but all have sinned, except one. so, truly there is one innocent. only one. and the one innocent person died. He died for you!
It’s when we make the connection between personal sin and the saviors work that we experience a profound shift.
it’s like we were on a path that in ourselves, we couldn’t change direction, and God took us and changed our direction. from hell to heaven.
it was His work, it was His plan.
He has always wanted all to come to Him. He has always given grace and mercy to mankind since we all deserve death with our first sin.
God shows patience to you and I every day.
His gospel message is a message that is good news. it is something that you and I have the privilege to share with all who will listen.
