The Resurrection is for You
luke 24.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the most powerful beliefs in Christianity?
What are some of the most important verses about Easter?
The greatest thing about going to the tomb of Jesus was that it was found empty.
He had been resurrected and was not there.
The empty tomb is one of the most powerful evidences of the resurrection that there is.
Death is hard because we are inherently circle people.
It’s in our nature to see things in terms of forever.
Unless it involves something unpleasant like cleaning toilets or getting a cavity filled, we don’t like endings.
That’s why death’s stark ending hurts our souls and breaks our hearts.
But this message is not about the other guy.
It not about you wife, husband, or children
It’s about you
This message the spotlit is on you
What will you do as resultant of the Resurrection story?
No one else is in the room but you and God!
Illustration - in a pipe inspecting joints realized after a few minutes i was all by myself and there was no one to help me if i was in trouble.
it was just me.
For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.
The stark reality of Scripture is that every person, Christian and non-Christian, is accountable before a sovereign God (see ) and will one day have to bow before Christ
romans 3.
The stark reality of Scripture is that every person, Christian and non-Christian, is accountable before a sovereign God (see ) and will one day have to bow before Christ ().
Jesus said, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be asked” ().
Many reject this declaration of Scripture by all manner of human rationalizations and bias, but their rejection cannot alter the reality of accountability.
So this morning lets shed the light on you and your response to the resurrection!
The Resurrection is about
I My Fallen Nature
explain here
The bible teaches that we have all sinned and whither we believe it or not are accountable to God for this sin.
The sin nature is that aspect in man that makes him rebellious against God.
When we speak of the sin nature, we refer to the fact that we have a natural inclination to sin; given the choice to do God’s will or our own, we will naturally choose to do our own thing.
Proof of the sin nature abounds.
No one has to teach a child to lie or be selfish; rather, we go to great lengths to teach children to tell the truth and put others first.
Sinful behavior comes naturally.
The news is filled with tragic examples of mankind acting badly.
Wherever people are, there is trouble.
Charles Spurgeon said, “As the salt flavors every drop in the Atlantic, so does sin affect every atom of our nature.
It is so sadly there, so abundantly there, that if you cannot detect it, you are deceived.”
The Bible explains the reason for the trouble.
Humanity is sinful, not just in theory or in practice but by nature.
Sin is part of the very fiber of our being.
The Bible speaks of “sinful flesh” in .
It’s our “earthly nature” that produces the list of sins in .
And speaks of “the body ruled by sin.”
The flesh-and-blood existence we lead on this earth is shaped by our sinful, corrupt nature.
The sin nature is universal in humanity.
All of us have a sinful nature, and it affects every part of us.
This is the doctrine of total depravity, and it is biblical.
All of us have gone astray ().
Isa
Paul admits that “the trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin” ().
Paul was in his “sinful nature a slave to the law of sin” ().
Paul admits that “the trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin” ().
Paul was in his “sinful nature a slave to the law of sin” ().
Solomon concurs: “Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, / no one who does what is right and never sins” ().
ecc
The apostle John perhaps puts it most bluntly: “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us” ().
So what do you think about your fallen nature?
If you don’t believe any of this and what the bible says the rest of the message is not for you
Now lets look at what my sin does ....
The Resurrection is about
II My Sinful Behavior
Sin brings death and destruction
sin is defined
my sinful behavior as a result of my sin nature brings death and destruction.
God hates sin because it is the very antithesis of His nature.
psalm 5.4
God hates sin because He is holy; holiness is the most exalted of all His attributes (; ).
The psalmist describes God’s hatred of sin this way: “For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; no evil dwells with You” ().
God hates sin because He is holy; holiness is the most exalted of all His attributes (; ).

The Bible presents God’s attitude toward sin with strong feelings of hostility, disgust, and utter dislike.
For example, sin is described as putrefying sores (, NKJV), a heavy burden (), defiling filth (; ), a binding debt (), darkness () and a scarlet stain ().
our sins separates us from God
illustration - separation from Trisha
Ocean City NJ - 1991
Got separated from Trisha ; we were worried frightened and panicked
we were looking for her and ran as we found her ..... almost crying and weeping
We are separated from God because of our sin .... God is looking for us and and wants us with Him.

III My Forgiveness
luke
romas 6.23
Scripture is very clear that only God can do this, that only God, the One who is the judge and the lawgiver, and the executioner, God who is the One offended is the only One who can forgive.
And He does and He will and He delights to and He has and He will continue to do so.
My forgiveness is secured in the fact that Jesus rose from the dead:
My sin is what put Him there
My sin is what he died for
My sin is guaranteed to be forgiven because he did what he said and rose again.
