Prayer is a vital part of our fellowship with God.
Psalm 66:18 KJV 1900
If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear me:
READ
To regard wickedness is to cherish some sin, to love it to the extent that I am not willing to part with it.
I know it is there, yet I justify it in some way like the child who says, “Well, he hit me first”. When we are holding on to some sin, we are not pursuing holiness and we cannot have fellowship with God.
Proverbs 15:29 KJV 1900
The Lord is far from the wicked: But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Proverbs 28:9 KJV 1900
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer shall be abomination.
Isaiah 1:15 KJV 1900
And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: Yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: Your hands are full of blood.
Zechariah 7:13 KJV 1900
Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; So they cried, and I would not hear, saith the Lord of hosts:
John 9:31 KJV 1900
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Hindrances to prayer
1-Sin
Isaiah 59:2 KJV 1900
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, And your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

2-Disobedience
Proverbs 1:28–31 KJV 1900
Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; They shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, And did not choose the fear of the Lord: They would none of my counsel: They despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled with their own devices.

3-Selfishness
Selfishness
James 4:3 KJV 1900
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
4. Injustice
Proverbs 21:13 KJV 1900
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, He also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

5-Lack of faith
James 1:6–7 KJV 1900
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
Prayers of self-indulgence will not be answered-
6-Presumptuous attitudes in prayer will not be honored—
Luke 9:51–56 KJV 1900
And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
7-Prayer offered from a heart which simultaneously calculates disobedience will not even be heard -
-Prayer offered from a heart which simultaneously calculates disobedience will not even be heard -
8-Mouthing prayer while tolerating unforgiveness toward others blocks the provisions of even our most basic needs-
Matthew 6:11–12 KJV 1900
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Power in Prayer

John 15:7 KJV 1900
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Also read
-The Lord does not say “Without me ye can do nothing” or “if ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall do all spiritual things. The key is NOT “of what should they should themselves be enable to do”, but “What should be done unto them”.
Abide in Him—
We are to remain clinging to Him. We must never admit any other thing or person in our hearts. We must trust Him.
To abide in Him, we must yield our entire lives to Him.
When we move away from Him, we become like withered branches.
2- Ye shall ask—prayer comes from those who “abide in Him”.
READ
John 15:4
John 15:4 KJV 1900
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
John 15:4 KJV 1900
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
When we abide in Him, we can ask and it will be done.
Do abide in Him is to be HOLY.
