Introduction
This topic is part of the book “What is a healthy church member” - I did not choose nor plan this topic.
Do you think the church of Jesus Christ should discipline her members who are living in sin?
Do you think the church should discipline someone who is;
Having more than one GOD.
Make an idol for himself or his family?
Take GOD’s name in vain?
Does not come for Sunday worship?
Mistreat his/her father or mother?
So angry that he/she can Kill someone?
Married man having a girlfriend and/or mistress?
Is a thief.
Destroy another person with untruth and/or lies?
Envious and jealous of his neighbour’s stuff?
The Biblical answer is a resounding yes.
BUT why does the Bible say so?
.
The church of Jesus Christ is a community of people called out by GOD - the same way the Hebrew people were called out of Egypt into the promised land to be the people of GOD.
What GOD said to the Hebrews, GOD is also saying the church;
“I am the LORD your GOD - which brought you out of the land of Egypt - out of the life of bondage to sin.
To this people, GOD gave them the 10 commandment.
These commandments - laws guide them like school masters and judge them when they break it.
When GOD discipline the Hebrews and us, He does so according to the law give to us and written in our conscience.
There is a set of law that condemn or justifies each one of us and when one of us breaks or trespass it, this is what Jesus tells us to do. .
.
So, yes, the church of Jesus Christ, is required by her LORD and savior to administer discipline and “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” .
