Garments

There is so much about garments in the bible:
Psalms talks about putting on the garment of praise
Put on praise like you are getting dressed.
Special instructions in Exodus were given about the Priests Garment as they served in the presence of the Lord. Very detailed description.
Jesus Garments at the cross were divided amongst the soldiers.
His undergarment was a seem less cloth very special and a dice was rolled for it, this was done to fulfil prophesy, which authenticates his true identity.
Cloaks were put on people for healing
We have the armour of God in
Helmet
breast plate
Sword
Shield
Footwear
Word of God
Belt of truth
These are given so that we can stand our ground.
Revelation 1:13–15 NIV
and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
Revelation 1:5–8 NIV
and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Old and New

Luke 5:33–39 NIV
They said to him, “John’s disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.” Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; in those days they will fast.” He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’ ”
Luke 5:
Here Jesus is talking about the new thing that is in town,
its Him,
What he meant was the new covenant is here.
We are the bride and he is our bridegroom.
Jesus is our new wine, he is our refreshing.
So often we go to the good ol’days we become nostalgic, that we forget to live in the present of what God is doing now. We become so focussed on the past that it is today that the Lord wants to bless us.
If we are open to the Lord and I believe that we are, we will experience his new wine, something fresh something significant and something special.
There is a sense that God is on the move.
Lives are being renewed and changed, Christian’s who were asleep and now awake.
Where there was disunity there is now unity.
Jesus has something fresh for us tonight, he has something fresh for us this year.
There are new adventures, there is a sense of change in the air.
When you put new material on an old garment its texture is different, it pulls at it and contorts it.
Don’t give us the old when we have the new
We cant take a piece of new garment, the new thing is not going to fit into the old.
It doesn’t look like the old, it doesn’t match the old, Its not going to match the old, they are not compatable.
I have such a sense that God is doing something new and fresh.
Though He is the same yesterday and forever.
This is part of His plan for us, its a new day, His mercies are new every morning.
So this season is part of the ongoing plan, of building and establishing and positioning us to be a part of God’s plans and purposes.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Don’t try and swap new and old around to inter change.
Be that new wine skin, be that new garment.
Where that Jacket that fits, don’t wear what others put on you,
where what God puts on you.
We see David about to fight Goliath and King Saul tries to put on his armour on David, David wrestles with and realises that he can only fight how he knows how, comfortable in his own skin and shepherd clothes.
He’s got freedom of movement, no weight holding him down.
We can’t have you looking like someone else, we need you to be you, you are unique, significant, amazing, adorable, sweet.
In fact we need to throw off what the enemy of our soul and what others try to mould us into and find ourselves moulded into Christ.

God’s Value system

Colossians 3:8 NIV
But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
colossians 3
Colossians 3:9–12 NIV
Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
What do we need to rid ourselves of to live a refreshed a renewed life.
Colossians 3:9-
Anger,
Rage,
Malice,
Slander
Filthy language
Lying
Old self and old practices
Put on the new self, the new life embrace it, embrace all that Christ has for you,
Renewed in knowledge
Compassion
Kindness
Humility
Gentleness
Patience
Take off the old rags of self and put on the new garments of Christ.
Replace old thinking with new thinking.
Stinking thinking
We have wrong thinking about ourselves and God.
We believe a lie about ourselves and God and expectations.
It’s time to stop believing the lies and start believing the God thing, the God factor.
God does not reject you.
He’s given you a voice
He does not abandon you

Prophetic & Plans

There is a prophetic element to us gathering tonight and me bringing you this message.
Its not only one of value and mission and hope and encouragement.
Buts its significant to where we are at as a church and particularly women of Revival Life.
Every one of you have big lives and your own unique challenges
Yet there is something significant when women gather and as women of Revival Life, we have an important part to play in our spheres and the life of our church.
There is a blessing when we gather and our hearts are as one in the spirit.
We have a great company of women who are full of faith and life and love Jesus with all their heart.
This year 2018 we are planning 3 more significant gatherings to impart, strengthen, equip, empower, connect and release you into all that God has called you to be.
Changing things up slightly

Looking at new venue, mix it up a bit.
We get bored with the same ol’ same ol’
Everything we do has an element of outreach, so that you can bring your friends and family.
As gatherings these will be spaces and places that you can be refreshed, strengthened, encouraged and for those you bring.
I want to encourage you not to just be an inviter but also a bringer.
I’ll be inviting speakers who are suited for the purpose of each of those events and will bring something new and fresh into our personal lives but also into the life of the church.
This is something that I am strategic about and it will be significant for you also.
I believe that we are living in significant days as a company of women who have the ability to bless and refresh not only ourselves but others.
Be that new wine skin, that new garment spiritually.
Allow God to renew you everyday, your thinking, your expectations.
Isaiah 40:31-
Leave you with this verse
Isaiah 40:31 NIV
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:29–30 NIV
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
Isaiah 40:
Isaiah 40:29–31 NIV
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
