When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he mobilized one hundred eighty thousand fit young soldiers from the entire house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin to fight against the house of Israel to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam son of Solomon. But the word of God came to Shemaiah, the man of God: “Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon, king of Judah, to the whole house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, ‘This is what the Lord says: You are not to march up and fight against your brothers, the Israelites. Each of you return home, for this situation is from me.’ ”
So they listened to the word of the Lord and went back according to the word of the Lord.

To Avenge Himself and His Family (Pride)
God’s Way is to let Him deal with the situation. He knows the real deal
Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head. Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.

God’s way
I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
And make sure that there isn’t any immoral or irreverent person like Esau, who sold his birthright in exchange for a single meal.

it makes you captive to sin. And sin is bondage, captivity. Often times we are willing participants to the sin and captivity.
Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and defiling many.

Conclusion
Have you found yourself at odds with God? Do you find yourself at odds with God today?
What is keeping you in contention with God today?
Pride? Is it yourself that you can’t get past
The surrender to God and put him first, not your own thoughts
Pleasure or Pleasing people - You can’t get past fulfilling he flesh?
Walk in the Spirit, desire the things of God, the things of the Spirit
Bitterness & Unforgiveness? If you can’t forgive, neither will God forgive you
Instead, surrender the pain to Him. Let Him heal you and put love in your heart again.
Religion? Religion doesnt get you into God’s good graces
But a relationship with Jesus Christ and with God the Father through Christ.
