Rehoboam

1 Kings 12:21–24 CSB
When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he mobilized one hundred eighty thousand fit young soldiers from the entire house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin to fight against the house of Israel to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam son of Solomon. But the word of God came to Shemaiah, the man of God: “Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon, king of Judah, to the whole house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, ‘This is what the Lord says: You are not to march up and fight against your brothers, the Israelites. Each of you return home, for this situation is from me.’ ” So they listened to the word of the Lord and went back according to the word of the Lord.
1 Kings 12:21-
To Avenge Himself and His Family (Pride)
God’s Way is to let Him deal with the situation. He knows the real deal
Romans 12:19–21 CSB
Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head. Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.

Romans 12:
Deuteronomy 32:35 CSB
Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay. In time their foot will slip, for their day of disaster is near, and their doom is coming quickly.”
Deuteronomy 32:25 CSB
Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, there will be terror; the young man and the young woman will be killed, the infant and the gray-haired man.
Deuteronomy 32:25
Proverbs 25:21–22 CSB
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.
Proverbs 25:

Balam

To Profit and to be a people pleaser (Self-Fullfillment)
God’s way
Galatians 5:16–18 CSB
I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Hebrews 12:16 CSB
And make sure that there isn’t any immoral or irreverent person like Esau, who sold his birthright in exchange for a single meal.
Hebrews 12:16
Galatians 5:16-
Walk by the Spirit. Not the Flesh
We are to be pleasing to God not people.
Galatians 1:10 CSB
For am I now trying to persuade people, or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Proverbs 29:25 CSB
The fear of mankind is a snare, but the one who trusts in the Lord is protected.
Proverbs 29:
John 12:
John 12:43 CSB
For they loved human praise more than praise from God.

Jonah

Because of his hatred for the Assyrians (Hatred / Bitterness)
Bitterness or Poison spreads and is contrary to the Love of the Lord
So wound up at someone or something that you can’t let it go. It takes hold of you and destroys your life.
Acts 8:23 CSB
For I see you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by wickedness.”
it makes you captive to sin. And sin is bondage, captivity. Often times we are willing participants to the sin and captivity.
Hebrews 12:15 CSB
Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and defiling many.
Hebrews
God’s Way is love and Forgiveness
Ephesians 4:32 CSB
And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.
1 John 4:7–8 CSB
Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Paul

Because of Zeal for His understanding of God’s Word (Knowledge & Religion)
Acts 9:4 CSB
Falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”
Who are you, Lord? Do you find yourself asking God this? Who are you?
Philippians 3:2–6 CSB
Watch out for the dogs, watch out for the evil workers, watch out for those who mutilate the flesh. For we are the circumcision, the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, boast in Christ Jesus, and do not put confidence in the flesh—although I have reasons for confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised the eighth day; of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; regarding the law, a Pharisee; regarding zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness that is in the law, blameless.
Philippians 3:2-6
Instead: God’s way:
Philippians 3:7-
Philippians 3:7–10 CSB
But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ. More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them as dung, so that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ—the righteousness from God based on faith. My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death,
