What is the present work of Christ?
The life of Christ

Return - will be actual, bodily, and physical
We are very familial with the works of Christ during his ministry.
Those actions were made evident in his 3 year ministry of Christ on this earth.
These events are recorded in the Gospels (Mat, Mrk, Luk, Joh)
Christ is not dead, he is risen!
He is alive today!
There is much evidence in scripture that is proof of an risen and ascended Christ!
Stephen saw Christ at God’s right hand.

So, the works of a risen Christ continues this very day.
What are the present works of Christ?
The present works of Christ are those things that He is responsible for from the time of his ascension to the time of his coming for the church.
We will look five of the presents works of Christ.
This is important because we as believes are interacting each day with risen saviour that is alive.
We are not following the teaching of dead religion.
But rather living out the desires of a living Saviour.
Tonight we will examine five important works that are currently active between the believer and Christ.
Christ the Head of the Body
The body of Christ is the church.
The Body of Christ - that is us!
He is the head, we are the body.
We are brought into the body by baptism
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Christ as the head of the church that is to set its direction and activity.

Christ is to be leader, the director, the head of the church.
We are the church.
Do we allow Christ to be the HEAD?
How can I let CHRIST be the head of the church.
Defer our way to his way!
Our way - our thoughts.
His way - scripture.
To allow Christ to be the head is to seek a scriptural direction.
That we do not violate scripture boundaries
That we do not omit scriptural directives
Christ the Great Shepherd
Christ is the good shepherd giving his life for his sheep.
Sheep and shepherds we a common part of the life of the Jews.
It is not surprising that this an analogy that was used to describe Christ's relationship with his people.
The shepherd was the overseer and caregiver of the sheep.
Shepherd as the protector and leader of the sheep.
Christ is the great shepherd working in you now.
Christ the Bridegroom
Our Great Shepherd will return
Christ the Bridegroom
We see another aspect of Christ as the spouse and lover of his people.
Christ is committed to the church
He is commited to us as husband.
As when a man makes that decision to propose.

Saying, you are the only one for me, there is no other!
Christ gives of himself for the church
Christ is willing to sacrifice for his church.
In fact, he already has proven that with his trip to Calvary.
Why?
So he can present his bride, the church, clean and pure.
How was he to do this?
Through his WORD!
“washing of water by the word”
Christ has a future planned for His bride
rev 19:
The LORD is certainly planning for the future eternity to spend with his bride.
She will clothed in righteousness and the preparations have been made.
If Christ is making preparations for you, the natural question is this…are you making preparations in your life for Him?
A large meal is extensive and can be take much planning.
I know that GOD can just “do it” but the implication is that he is preparing for you!

Christ is in a time of preparation.
Christ the High Priest

The Nature of His priesthood
Christ fulfilled all of the qualities of a Priest.
He was made a priest by God ()
He ministered spiritual things
He offered sacrificial things to God
after the order of Melchizedek
Melchizedek was a priest before there was an Aaronic priesthood!
Christ did not have to come from the lineage of Aaron, but rather a direct appointment of God! - Like Melchizedek
Christ had done away with the old covenant and system of priest and sacrifices.
One sacrifice for all, and now an eternal priesthood in christ.
His sacrifice as High Priest
He sacrificed himself.
Christ was both the sacrifice and the sacrificer!
He was the lamb and the priest!
His intercession as High Priest

That go-between.
That one that affects the relationship between God and man.
He is interceding on our behalf even now.
