Sharing God’s Heart with the World

For the last couple of weeks we’ve been learning about God’s heart, and the Father’s love. Today I’m going to talk about sharing the Father’s love with others. God’s heart…is for the world.
2 Peter 3:9 NASB95
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
Another version:
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to him.
In the movies we’ve seen movie Jesus nailed to the cross in many different depictions. For many very good reasons, movie jesus always has various coverings protecting the actors modesty…and perhaps the viewers eyes. It would be a distraction in our time and culture to see a naked movie jesus on the screen. That’s how it really was though. Part of the roman crucifixion process involved complete embarrassment and humiliation as well as physical and mental pain. Crucifixion was a punishment, capital in nature. Horrible, and ugly. Jesus was stripped down of all identifying clothing and cultural modesty. Stripped of every distinguishing mark that any singular culture might grab onto. In this way, he became a savior for us all, for all in the world.
As Christ followers, we’re compelled to share what God has done in our lives, but not everyone has the same idea about how to go about it. There are some right ways, and there are a lot of wrong ways. Let’s look at some of the wrong ways.

Wrong ways to reach people

The Strategist Evangelist

Believe it or not…God doesn’t need us to twist His message to reach people.

The Amplified Evangelist

Get sanctified, or you’ll be chicken fried. Alright, that’s kind of funny. What is NOT funny, are bringing messages about wrath or hatred. VERY not funny. Believe it or not, I’ve seen a lot of this.

The Liar Evangelist

Show me a guy like this, and I’ll show you someone uncertain about their own faith.

The Banner Method

Please don’t be one of these people. Be yourself, share your passion. But don’t use cliche messages. You aren’t reaching people.

The Lyracist Evangelist

Believe it or not…we do actually have GOOD music! I remember back when I was young and our youth group traveled to a national youth rally. There was a christian version of weird al yankovich. I forget his name....he took popular songs of the day, and made them funny christian versions. It was entertaining…but it isn’t necessarily a way to reach people.
So....how do we reach people?

Some BETTER ways to reach people

Mark 16:15 NASB95
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Believe it or not…this passage isn’t just about WHY we share what Jesus has done in our lives…but the HOW. Let’s read this in another context as shared through word study and scholarly context:
“As you are going throughout the world, preach the gospel to every creature”
So…wherever you are…in your life…BE the gospel.
Let’s see what Tommy & Eddie have to say:
Personal Experience of Tommy & Eddy
A personal invitation. A personal testimony.

You can’t just invite someone to church
