I know you folks have blessed me with your prayer, so today I have came to share with you my testimony from the heart transplant and how our Lord and Savior was their through it all. So I’m going to talk a deep breath and will share what the Lord as shown me and how he used me for changing lives.

With the last pacemaker/defibrillator they were had to go in by opening my chest cavity just to get it in

They noticed the heart would need replaced in some time down the road but it never sunk in fully

About a year half later I was sick enough I needed to be added to the transplant list in November of 2011

At this point my life changes beyond what anyone can fully understand. It’s not like most medical issues where meds and/or surgery can save you. Only, only the death of another person can save you.

One of my main prayers in my time of waiting was that I not get the heart of a lost soul I would rather they have time to change their life and the Lord take me. And as I waited on the Lord here is what I learned in this time.

Waiting: it is a mental war
Waiting: it is a mental war
o Having so many days and long nights lying in a hospital bed hoping for someone to die, for some family to suffer the pain of loss. Knowing if that didn’t happen I was laying on the bed and in the room not that I might die in, but will die in. For me it was like a death chamber.

As of Tuesday 2:03pm the waiting list of people needing organs or they will die in less than a year, 120,860

o Friends and family that visit help immensely in keeping you upbeat and as a release for the mental anguish. Also the relationships you build with nurses and nurses aids makes friends available 24/7

o Yet I was still hurting until the Lord smacked me with His 2x4 to get my attention.

At times like this our faith is the best crutch to lean on

o It is recalling in my head and heart why we have faith and how the Lord has already blessed me.

for me this was the first step to copping and getting back on focus

I recalled if I don’t lift up my hands, my voice, my time, in what could be my last days why should the Lord even give me a new heart. In that moment I decided I’m going out swinging.

o The doors it opened with a captive audience that had to help me was great. A nurses aid= the small group she started at her church. Quite a few Nurses= about their personal relationship issues, their kids, their faith or lack of faith, their living arrangement issues, other religions they follow (Hinduism), and anything affecting them.

This also included ending up several of the Nurses and Doctors family members they introduced me to like their kids, their parents, and their siblings some I talked with others I prayed for and with, then they would run in the next day sharing the blessings from their actions from our talks. What was cool about this is that they were so filled with joy from the Lord they would interrupt any other visitors I had.

o One of the head doctors even offered his brother-in-law to speak at the church who just returned from his mission field. And of course I said yes because blessing and helping one another as believers is what family does. It turned out it was the first time his parent heard him speak. That next week this missionaries mother was in the hospital and it gave me a chance to speak to his father about coming back to the Lord. Plus one of the desk clerks and his music group Common Garments even came to bless the church.

Is it your job, your physical limitations, your home, or like mine was. The hospital bed I was laying in knowing you will probably die in was my cell.

But then it clicked from this verse. I maybe in my bed cell but others in my cell block called 4JCW. They need someone who understands the mental war they are in and could sympathies with them but also bring them Christ heart of love.

About 1/3 of the folk were at different stages of transplant in our wing. One gentleman I met with several times got through transplant just to have cancer from the procedure. The doctor that asked me to visit this man who had only his wife visit once a week. The mental change he underwent was amazing not to mention his desire to go back to church and so did his wife after not attending for over a decade.

Talking with a 22yr old and his folks about his heart problem that was like mine. He felt life was ruined in the destruction of his college education by not being able to leave the hospital because the pump he was on. 20min and the pump was similar to a 5ft tall fridge requiring three people to help him walk with it. Unfortunately nothing seemed to help his depression but Praise the Lord he now has a new heart.

Answer the question the scripture asks you “What is your life?” I was not going to lie down and wait for death or a heart and leave people hurting all around me. I wanted my potential death to end with my relationship with the Lord helping me reflect Christ to others.

As an organ donor give the blessing to a lost soul to have more time to know their Savior, or a Christian more time to serve.

2. Remember these verses in times of personal struggle, family struggles, or even as a church family. Waiting on the Lord, Then meditate on His word to strengthen your faith, fight for the Lord when you are waiting scripture never be stagnate and imprisoned, and be ready to sacrifice all you have and ways you desire for the Lords will.
