Logos meaning “word” or “discourse” = Discourse about God
Theology in a Christian context is a discipline of study that seeks to understand the God reveled in the Bible and to provide a Christian understanding of reality.
The Study of God
Everyone is a theologian
THEOLOGY is biblical
Theology is Systematic
Theology is done in the context of human culture
Sound doctrine is intended to shape and mold the people of God for life and service in the world.
False Doctrine Teaching that distorts or contradicts the revealed truth of God, causing division and distress in the church by leading people away from the truth.
Correct Doctrinal Beliefs are essential to the relationship between the believer and God.
Correct Doctrinal Beliefs are essential because of the connection between truth and experience
Correct Doctrinal Beliefs are essential because there are so many secular and religious systems that are all competing for our devotion
Luke 1:1 ESV
Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us,

The Need of Doctrine

2 Timothy 4:3 ESV
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
There is an all out attack on sound doctrine. There is a turning away from doctrinal matters and a turning to philosophies of men and doctrines of devils. Many churches have no time for doctrinal preaching or teaching. We have turned to oratory , retrioc , politics, a social gospel.
In an age of relativism, in which there appears to be no absolutes, it is extremely vital to know that God has absolutes.
God, His Word, His Truth and His Laws stand out as eternal absolutes , unchanged and unchanging forever reliable. Atheism , agnosticism, relativism, situation ethics, existentialism and other philosophies of men have saturated this generation thus causing a real need for sound doctrine.
If your a preacher at Truth in Love Ministries you need to know

WHO we believe in

WHAT we believe in

WHY we believe it

Character - what we are

Behavior - What we do

Destiny - Where we go

Strong Character is determined by strong beliefs, and clearly defined doctrine makes for clear cut convictions.
What a person believes is either molded by vain philosophies of men or the inspired Word of God.
Stars existed before astronomy; man in his ignorance conceives astrology. Flowers existed before botany; man in his ignorance resorts to pantheism. Life existed before biology; man in his ignorance falls to evolution. God existed before theology; man in his ignorance falls into idolatry.
Truth combats error and light dispels darkness.
The need to fight error or darkness as such, but rather to declare the truth, turn on the light, and thus dispel the error and darkness.
False teaching can only be corrected by the word of God.
Thus whether it be denial of the truth, subtraction, addition, misunderstanding, misunderstanding, misrepresentation or substitution. only the some total of the Word of God can rectify false doctrines.
