INTRODUCTION:

1. God’s Word should be our how to book...

A. How to live life.

John 20:30–31 NKJV
30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
John 20:30–31 KJV 1900
And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

B. How to be Godly.

2 Peter 1:2–4 NKJV
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2 Pt 1.2-

C. How to be blessed.

2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Cor 9.8

D. How to love.

1 Corinthians 13 NKJV
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 cor 13

2. God has not left anything out that the Christian needs to know.

2 Timothy 3:16–17 NKJV
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

A. All we must do is follow the instructions given by God.

Psalm 119:105 NKJV
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

1. Stay on the lit path and all of the how to questions of life will be answered.

Matthew 7:13–14 NKJV
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
John 14:6 NKJV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

3. You might be thinking...

A. Why do we need this sermon?

Matt 24.10-
Matthew 24:10–13 NKJV
And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

BODY:

1. GET INVOLVED!

1 Timothy 4:12 NKJV
Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

A. If you are young don’t let anyone tell you that you are too young to be involved.

1 Timothy 4:12 NKJV
12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

1. The Younger you are when you get involved the easier it will be to stay involved.

Psalm 71:5 NKJV
5 For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth.
Psalm 71:17 NKJV
17 O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.

A. The young are to be an example to the believers.

1. At twelve years old Jesus said “Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”
Luke 2:49 NKJV
49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”
A. They are to be examples in...
1. Word
A. This applies to all Christians not just the youth.
1 Peter 3:10 NKJV
10 For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.
A. This applies to all Christians not just the youth.
Matthew 15:18–19 NKJV
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
2. In conduct
A. This applies to all Christians not just the youth.
1 Peter 3:15–16 NKJV
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
1 Peter 2:11–12 NKJV
11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
1 Pt
3. In love.
A. This applies to all Christians not just the youth.
John 13.34-35
John 13:34–35 NKJV
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
1 Peter 2:15–17 NKJV
15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
4. In spirit
A. This applies to all Christians not just the youth.
Acts 18:25 NKJV
25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.
1 The Laodicean Christians were the opposite of being an example in spirit.
Revelation 3:15–17 NKJV
15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—
Rev
5. In faith
A. This applies to all Christians not just the youth.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
6. in purity
A. This applies to all Christians not just the youth.
2 Corinthians 7:1 NKJV
1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
1 John 3:1–3 NKJV
1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
1 John 3:3 NKJV
3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
1 Jn 3.12

B. Getting involved means not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.

Hebrews 10:25 NKJV
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

1. If we are going to be excited about our Christianity we must draw near to God.

Hebrews 10:19–22 NKJV
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10.
Heb 10.1922

2. If we are going to be excited about our Christianity we must hold fast our confession of hope.

Hebrews 10:23 NKJV
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:23 NKJV
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Heb 10.

3. If we are going to be excited about our Christianity we must stir one another up.

H
Hebrews 10:24 NKJV
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
Hebrews 10:24 NKJV
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
Heb 10.

4. The conclusion at the end of Hebrew 10:24 is we stir one another up by getting involved in the assembly.

Hebrews 10:25 NKJV
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

2. STAY INVOLVED!

A. If we want to remain excited about our Christianity we must stay involved.

Revelation 2:10 NKJV
10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

1. Jesus said that we must endure to the end

A. He was telling the people those that would stay involved will be saved.

Matthew 10:22 NKJV
22 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
Matthew 10:21–22 NKJV
21 “Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. 22 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
Matt 10.
Matthew 24:9–13 NKJV
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

2. Peter tells the Christians to stay involved in their faith by adding to it.

2 Peter 1:1–7 NKJV
1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.

A. It is very clear that if we want to escape the corruption that is in the world through lust we must stay involved in our faith by adding...

1. virtue
2. knowledge (study)
3. self-control
4. perseverance
5. godliness
6. brotherly kindness.

B. Once we have escaped the corruption that is in the world we must then abound in these things which means staying involved in our faith.

2 Peter 1:8–9 NKJV
8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
2 Pt 1.8-9

B. Staying involved means not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.

Hebrews 10:19–25 NKJV
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Heb 10.

C. If we stay involved we will be excited Christians the same as Apollos

Acts 18.24-
Acts 18:24–28 NKJV
24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. 27 And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace; 28 for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.

1. Apollos was an excited servant of God who got involved, stayed involved and vigorously enthusiastically served his God.

CONCLUSION:

1. If each member will get involved and stay involved it will cause excitement in the Church.

Philippians 4:4 NKJV
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

A. The excited Christians will do the work necessary to grow the Church.

Ephesians 4:11–16 NKJV
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

B. Are you excited about your Christianity?

C. If not I urge you to get involved, stay involved and become excited about your Christianity?

1. Don’t let your love grow cold.

Matthew 24:12 NKJV
And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
Matt 24.
