THE CROSS BRINGS REDEMPTION

Key Verse:
ephesians
Ephesians 1:7–10 ESV

BREIF STORY OF THE BOOK OF RUTH

This was a difficult time for the people of God, especially for the city of Bethlehem Judah, because there was a famine in the land.
There a family there, the man was Elimelech, the wife Naomi and their two sons, mahlon and chilion.
Bible says they went to “sojourn” (morar)
sojourn = a resident alien, to live amongst people who are not blood relatives, or family by blood.
The meaning of their names were:
Elimelech = God is my king
Naomi = pleasant one
Mahlon = to be sick
Chilon = wasting or puny
The bible says they went to dwell in the land of Moab.

There is one thing we must know about Moab:

Moab has a history when it comes especially to Moabite woman.
in its talks about how the moabite woman seduced (seducir)israelites men, into sexual imorality and this caused God to strike down thousands of men.
Moab came about from lot, moab was a son of lot, but was through lot and his daughter of a sinful act, moab became to be.

36 Thus both the daughters of Lot became pregnant by their father. 37 The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.

So they go to moab, and elemelich dies and after the two boys marries two moabite woman.
Ruth = desirable

Then later the two boys die as well.
So naomi decides to go back home, becasue she had heard that the lord has blessed once more bethelhem Judah.
As they head back Naomi tells her daughter in laws to go back to moab, because, there is nothing for them in Moab.

So Ruth and Noemi heads back home.
Ruth comes home empty handed, she has nothing with, not only that she has a daughter in law who is a moabite woman.
You must understand that a woman dependence on based on the man.
their were homeless and with literally nothing!!
Their only hope was to find a kinsmen redeemer!
they needed redemption.
Redemption:
“To buy back” the liberation of possession, object, or person. usually by payment or ransom ( el rescate)
the term is freeing from chains, slavery, or prison.

The release of people, animals, or property from bondage through the payment of a price.

1 Now Naomi had a relative of her husband’s, a worthy man of the clan of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz. 2 And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favor.” And she said to her, “Go, my daughter.” 3 So she set out and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers, and she happened to come to the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the clan of Elimelech. 4 And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem. And he said to the reapers, “The Lord be with you!” And they answered, “The Lord bless you.” 5 Then Boaz said to his young man who was in charge of the reapers, “Whose young woman is this?”

The two Hebrew root words associated with redemption are:

1. גָּאַל (ga'al), meaning “redeem” or “act as a kinsman-redeemer”

2. פָּדָה (padah), meaning “ransom” or “redeem”

THE LAW OF GLEANING (recogere)
To glean, it was a welfare system of the days if you were the land owner you were allowed to make only one pass through your field. You could not go back the second time, the concept was the reapers would miss or spill some, and that was left for the widows.

His uncleanness is still on him. 14 “This is the law when someone dies in a tent: everyone who comes into the tent and everyone who is in the tent shall be unclean seven days. 15 And every open vessel that has no cover fastened on it is unclean. 16 Whoever in the open field touches someone who was killed with a sword or who died naturally, or touches a human bone or a grave, shall be unclean seven days. 17 For the unclean they shall take some ashes of the burnt sin offering, and fresh water shall be added in a vessel. 18 Then a clean person shall take hyssop and dip it in the water and sprinkle it on the tent and on all the furnishings and on the persons who were there and on whoever touched the bone, or the slain or the dead or the grave. 19 And the clean person shall sprinkle it on the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day. Thus on the seventh day he shall cleanse him, and he shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and at evening he shall be clean. 20 “If the man who is unclean does not cleanse himself, that person shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, since he has defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. All three of those things were rooted in the worst failures of Israel.
The only reason why the tables of stone were broken and put in the box, was when moses came down from the mountain with the 10 commandments the people were worshiping other gods, false idols.
Golden calf and Moses Got mad and threw the stones down, it was rooted in their failure.
Only reason why a dead stick was put in the box was because, was because a woman and man named Korah
and the children or Israel, rose up and tried to over power moses,
he said tell all the leaders to bring their dead stick and the one that comes alive will be my leader, and only reason there were there because there were full of rebellion and God slew 1500.00 and Korah had leprosay
The manna was there and God gave them manna was because they complained and wined and do not like the food, and God said ill give manna for 40 days and they complained.
All three of those items were deeply rooted in their failures.
God took their worst failures put it in a box and the mercy seat covered them and they sprinkled over the blood.
And when the philstines attemped to over the box when they touched it, God slew them.
When the enemy tries to bring up your past, God says it under the blood.
Rahab was protected by the scarlot thread, she was protected by the blood!
