Introduction

If Christ is our life (v.3:4),

then He is the BASIS of our life.

Since you have been raised with (in and through) Christ then your standard in life has been raised - Christ is your standard.

Paul said imitate me as I imitate Christ ().

You have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body ().

The Risen Life (The Spiritual Aspect)

You have been redeemed

The believer’s life is a life that is risen with Christ.

God loves His Son, Jesus Christ—loves Him with an eternal and perfect love.

Therefore, when (at that moment) a person believes, really surrenders his life to Christ, God forgives the person’s sins and accepts Him in Christ.

God actually identifies the person with Christ in His death and resurrection.

God begins to consider the person as having died and risen with Christ.

The new believer was not bodily present when Christ died and arose, but God considers the believer to have been there.

God reckons, credits, and counts it so.

OUR BELIEF, TRUST, FAITH in Christ puts us where He was when He died on the cross and when He rose from the grave we were given the same declaration even if we are still alive in our flesh.

Eternal life begins at the moment of conversion and conversion happens at moment of genuine belief.

What does His resurrection mean to us?

that we have risen with Him - we are assured

that we have conquered death - we no longer have to die

that we are raised to a new life - live a with change new life.

that we have the power and freedom to say no to sin - sin has no longer a hold on us.

Roman 6:11 “In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

Here, the contrast is made that to be “dead to sin” is to be “alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

Those who have come to faith in Jesus are no longer to allow sin to control their lives.

Instead, we offer ourselves to God to serve His purposes.

THIS IS THE CHANGE!

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

The New Life (The Practical Aspect built upon the Spiritual Aspect)

A. A life that is held by Christ is a life that seeks the things above.

Having the mindset of God.

The things of Christ and of heaven are to consume the believer’s life and mind.

But for the believer to keep his mind upon the things of Christ he must know what those things are.

Therefore, the question naturally arises: What are the things of Christ and the things of heaven which are to consume our thoughts?

Ans: Next week will touch on the demands of a new life starting with v.5.

Truths found in scripture, Directives found in scripture, principles found in scripture, the personhood of Christ, his life on earth, walk as Jesus walk - live like He lived, think like He think, love like loved, humility, sacrifice, contentment, holiness and godly living.

Fruits of the spirit

c. 5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

This provides us the backbone that will get you to make the right choice.

God’s Word will not state the specifics but it will lead you to the specifics.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

POSITIONALLY WE ARE PLEASING TO GOD BECAUSE WE ARE HIS CHILDREN, BUT IN MATTERS OF BEHAVIOR IT HAS TO BE IN LINE AND CONSISTENT WITH OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST.

WE FOLLOW THE LIFE OF CHRIST AS HE IS OUR LIFE.

He reveals it to you through the events and circumstances that surround your life daily.

He died thus we died in the flesh, He rose thus we will rise with Him in Glory.

We are participants in His resurrection.

God sees us through the life of Christ.

All these He made possible, all these is His work, He is able we are unable and only through our faith that put us as the enables us the realize what He has made available.

Seven things that should consume our thought and minds and echos the praise and prayer of our lips.

His resurrection fulfilled His promise which guarantee that He is the Son of God - The rightful one and only Saviour or the World - EXCLUSIVE

The glorious truth of salvation and justification should consume our thoughts and praise everyday of our life.

Your life should show it.

3. The resurrection of Christ afforded us new life.

A life that has been restored to its original intent while currently waging war against the devil.

4. The resurrection gives us power to life victoriously oven sins and to bear fruit for God through the Holy Spirit as we walk through our life here on Earth.

Our union with Christ gives us the power we need to stand firm with our faith and say no to sin.

The picture of our union of Christ described in should consumed our minds.

Our minds should focus on what God will reward us when we will be home with Him
