1 Samuel 17:37–38 KJV 1900
David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee. And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
Last week we talked about David’s conversation with the King
He told him about the lion
He told the king about the bear
Now we get to the end of the conversation(kuraakaani)
We see that the king agrees(sahamata) that David should go
The king’s opinion is now different
At first, he said no v.33
But now he thinks David is ready
But he does more than just change his thoughts
He steps(charana garnu) up to help David
Saul was afraid to go against Goliath
His faith was not enough
His obedience was not enough
His courage was not enough
But he wanted to help
This was a good thing
There are many good works that we will not do
Sometimes, like Saul, our faith, obedience, courage is not enough
In other situations
Our strength is not enough
Our time is not enough
Our skill is not enough
Our knowledge is not enough
In a certain area
**Radio program - Naresh dai
**Write a book
**Encourage a lady friend
We see others step forward to do good, important work
We should have a desire(ichha) to help!
When we help others do God’s will
We honor the Lord
We are giving to the Lord
We are giving to the Lord’s work
Here we see the acts of the king(karya-haru)
These were good acts
We can learn from these actions
But he helped David 3 ways!
Saul was afraid to go himself
But he helped David 3 ways!

Gave encouragement

“Go”
The king didn’t express more doubt
He didn’t complain
He didn’t discourage(nirotsahan)
He agreed with David
He encouraged David
He said: “Go!”
Sometimes people you need you to say “Go!”
Do it!
1 Thessalonians 5:11 KJV 1900
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
They want your blessing
They want your encouragement
**”Sorry, but I can’t do that!?”
How hard is that?
Just say a word!
Proverbs 12:25 KJV 1900
Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: But a good word maketh it glad.
But sometimes our pride(garba) gets in the way!
(Like David’s brother)
Saul could have said no
Because David will make him look bad
Give encouragement!

Gave prayer

“The Lord be with thee!”
This is a prayer
Ephesians 6:18 KJV 1900
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
For all saints
James 5:16 KJV 1900
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
For one another
Ephesians 6:18 KJV 1900
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
For all saints
Do you want to make a difference in lives?
Pray!
Do you want to help?
Pray!
For the salvation of men
Unsaved family
For the sharing of the Gospel
For faith
For God to work in hearts
When someone is going to do the work of the Lord:
Do you want to help?
Give prayer!

Gave supplies

“Saul armed David”
Gave him weapons(shastra)
Gave him armor(hatiyaara-haru/yuddhako bastra)
Things needed for the work!
1 Corinthians 9:7 KJV 1900
Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
1 Corinthians 9:7 KJV 1900
Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
When soldiers go to war, do they buy their own guns, uniforms, supplies? No!
How does God provide money?
On trees? No
From the clouds(baadal)? No
But I have been blessed many times
From the giving of God’s people!
Many people are afraid to follow and obey the Lord because they don’t understand how God will provide.
Many times they don’t trust God to give because they are not giving
If you don’t give by faith, why should you believe others will give?
Yes, you will have doubt
Are you a giver?
Even when it wasn’t used
Acts 20:35 KJV 1900
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Are you a giver?
Saul was trying to help!
He gave to help with this battle
I wish people in our church were so generous
And so giving
That people had to turn away their gifts
_____________
Give encouragement
Acts 20:35 KJV 1900
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
