Day 1

Scripture

Since You are my rock and my fortress, You lead me and guide me for Your Name’s sake.” (, TLV)

Heart Thoughts

When life throws you a curve ball, it’s easy to feel lost, confused or like everything has come to a grinding halt. You may feel like you no longer have a clear sense of the future. Maybe you lost a good job and you don’t know what the future holds. Maybe you recently went through a divorce and your whole life direction has changed. Maybe you did not get into the college you planned for or get the job of your dreams. You may be wondering, “What do I do now?”
You are in the perfect place to run into the mighty fortress who is our God. He has promised you two great things in His word. He will “lead” you. That means He will clear the path before you. He will get out in-front and make sure the path is safe and secure for you. He also promises you that He will “guide” you. As He is clearing out the road in-front of you, He will help you understand why He is doing what He is doing. He will teach you how to achieve your purpose in life. He will equip you and make sure you are strong and able to handle all that is in-front of you. He will show you how to walk in the path of life and blessing. He does all this for His own Name’s sake.
The key is that you have to trust in His Name and call upon His Name. We can have confidence because in His Name He has already spoken the cosmos into reality, he created a nation out of one man, he gave victory to a shepherd boy against a giant. He even defeated death. His name has already overcome!
You have to know that He will take the lead in your life because He wants His Name to be magnified in and through you. The trials that come your way are just a stepping stone in the direction of your next victory. You may experience tragedy or loss in this life, but for the sake of His Name He is going to lead you and guide you out of this place to a place of victory, to a place of blessing.
Don’t let fear of the future paralyze you; instead, trust that for His Name sake He is going to lead you out of this situation. Though the enemy may roar like a lion at you, the One who goes ahead of you has a reputation for slaying enemy lions!

Bracha “Blessing”

May the One whose Name is high and exalted, our God and King, go before you today for His Name’s sake. May you have full assurance in your heart that Adonai Elohim, Lord-God, cuts the trail ahead of you and will guide you on His path. May you be blessed today for His Name’s sake.

Day 2

Scripture

Psalm 102:15 TLV
So the nations will fear Adonai’s Name and all the kings of the earth Your glory.

Heart Reflections

Elisabeth Elliot is quoted as saying, “The real question is do you have a god of your own making? Do you have a god who is on a leash? Do you have a god who is a graven image? Do you have a god you have tamed who jumps through hoops for you? Do you have a god who is under your control, or do you have a real God under whose control you are? Do you have a God who is infinitely beautiful?”
Elisabeth Elliot is right. We must deeply consider the dominion of Adonai’s Name in our heart. Do we serve the living God or a god of our own making. The psalmist is calling the nations to abandon the false gods and to turn to the fear of Adonai’s Name.
Elisabeth Elliot would say (I heard her once speak), “The real question is do you have a god of your own making? Do you have a god who is on a leash? Do you have a god who is a graven image? Do you have a god you have tamed who jumps through hoops for you? Do you have a god who is under your control, or do you have a real God under whose control you are? Do you have a God who is wiser (and that is only logical when you are)?”
Throughout history, great names have provoked both praise and fear. Names like Alexander the Great, Xerxes, Nebuchadnezzar, George Washington, General Grant, Abraham Lincoln. These names at one point in time created praise amongst their allies and fear amongst their enemies. The psalmist says the nations should revere the Name of Adonai above any name that can be named.
Adonai’s Name is at all times something to be worshiped and adored by all peoples. Why? The psalmist says it is because of His compassion towards Zion (cf. ). A nation known for its rebellion, Jerusalem, a city that at points in its history locked the doors on God, is still a city that receives His compassion and care. Zion is the place where mercy triumphs over justice. Where compassion seals the final verdict and not wrath. The psalmist says, this kind of ongoing love should inspire holy fear and adoration for the name of Adonai.

How much more so should Adonai’s name be adored for his amazing love that he shows to Jews and non-Jews in the Messiah Yeshua. In His great love he has promised
Romans 8:35 TLV
Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
Romans 8:35–36 TLV
Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.”
There is nothing that can separate us from God’s love. Throughout the ages followers of Messiah have faced tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger and sword; and still, those who belong to Messiah know they belong to His love. This attachment to His love and His love attached to us has inspired nations to turn in repentance and reverence to Adonai’s Name!
Today, worship the Name of Adonai because of the majesty of his great compassion and love.

Brachah

May the Lord God surround you with His love today. May the One who sits enthroned forever, whose renown is from generation to generation arise over you and have compassion on you and your family. May you experience the fulness of His love and compassion so that nations will fear Adonai’s Name.

Day 3

Scripture

Exodus 20:7 TLV
“You must not take the Name of Adonai your God in vain, for Adonai will not hold him guiltless that takes His Name in vain.

Heart Thoughts

There is a close identity between ourselves and our names. When someone laughs at your name, or mispronounces it, you often feel slighted. This is even more true of our name in the broader sense of “reputation.” To injure my good name is to injure me; to revere my name is to revere me.

There is a similar identity between God’s Name and God himself. To praise his Name is to praise him. To despise his Name is to despise him. To take His Name in vain is to treat God like a vain thing. The Name has all of God’s attributes and performs all of His acts. His Name is his presence in the world.
In Muslim theology, God’s highest and truest Name is unrevealed, and, some theologians in the Christian tradition have agreed with their Muslim contemporaries and said that God is nameless. I am sure these statements are intended to protect God’s sovereignty. But they do not agree with Scripture, in which God freely reveals his Names to us.

These statements are intended to protect God’s sovereignty. But they do not agree with Scripture, in which God freely reveals his names to us.
God reveals His Name to us and expects us to treat His Name with the same honor we would treat His person. God does not wish to remain nameless like the Muslims believe and some Christians. God delights in us knowing His Name and calling on His Name with respect, honor and glory. Yes, He takes a great risk by revealing His Name but it is a risk He is willing and desires to take.

Brachah

May the Holy One of Israel give you a revelation of the glory of His Name. May you encounter the rich fulness of all He is and at the same all His Name means. May His name be like a sweet aroma that is ever adored by you.

Day 4

Scripture

Jeremiah 14:9 TLV
Why are You like a man overcome, like a champion who cannot save? Yet you, Adonai, are in our midst, and we are called by Your Name. Do not forsake us!
Jeremiah 14:21 TLV
Do not despise us, for Your Name’s sake. Do not dishonor Your glorious throne. Remember Your covenant with us— do not break it!

Heart Thoughts

It is true that to give a name is to exercise control. The powerful give names to the weak. It is the father who names the child, the conqueror who names the captured city, and God who names his creatures.
It is also true that to give a name is to exercise control. The powerful give names to the weak. It is the father who names the child, the conqueror who names the captured city, and God who names his creatures.
To be called by the Name of God is to allow God to exercise control over your life. Recently, we had to renew our youngest daughter’s Passport. After going through a lengthy paperwork process the clerk had me and my wife raise our hands and swear this child was in fact our child that bore our last name. Then our child had to take the same solemn oath. We were acknowledging that we exercised control over her as parents and she that we were her guardians.
If you are called by God’s Name He swears to be your guardian. He assumes full responsibility for your life. He lifts up His right hand and promises to be responsible for you and for all of your needs. The question is, “Can you raise your hand say that He is your guardian? Can you say today that you have voluntarily given Him right to exercise control over you life?” If so, then His Name is on you and the blessing of His guardianship will be upon you.

Brachah

May the Lord God of Israel’s hope place His Name over your heart today. May you feel his protective guardianship over your life. May you without hesitation raise your hand and acknowledge your heavenly Father who has put His Name upon you.

Day 5

Scripture

Psalm 34:3 TLV
Magnify Adonai with me and let us exalt His Name together.

Heart Thoughts

If you approach God, must be approached as the supreme authority in your life. It is His Name alone that is to be exalted. He cannot be one more god among many. He cannot be one more hero among many heroes. He cannot be one more good role model amongst many role models. He demands a preeminence and a supremacy, the ascendancy in your life.
The Bible says you were built to worship somebody or something. Bob Dylan says you were built to worship somebody. Whatever you magnify and worship you will become. If you worship the culture you will become the culture. If you magnify violence you become a violent person. If you magnify a toxic sexuality you will become a toxically sexual person. Whatever you worship you will become.
We’re talking today about another one of the attributes of God. We’re in a series this fall on the attributes of God, and we’re talking about the supremacy of God. That means God, if you approach him, must be approached as the supreme authority in your life. He cannot be one more god among many. He demands a preeminence and a supremacy, the ascendancy in your life.
When you choose to magnify and worship the living God you become like Him. The psalmist says they will reflect God’s radiant glory
The Bible says you were built to worship somebody. Bob Dylan says you were built to worship somebody.
Psalm 34:5–7 TLV
They who looked to Him were radiant, and their faces will never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and Adonai heard, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of Adonai encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.
The psalmist says that we will never lack anything because He does not lack anything in and of Himself,
Psalm 34:9–11 TLV
Fear Adonai, His kedoshim, For those who fear Him lack nothing. Young lions may lack, and go hungry, but those who seek Adonai want for no good thing. Come, children, listen to me: I will teach you the fear of Adonai.
All of this is the result of magnifying the Lord. Exalting the Name of Adonai. He promises each of us and all of us benefits beyond what we could imagine when we choose to magnify and worship Him exclusively.

Bracha

May the Lord God of Israel bless you with blessings that you cannot imagine. May He do exceedingly great things for you because of the power that is at work inside of you. May your heart belong exclusively to Adonai and may you experience all His wonderful benefits!

For the Feed

If you approach God, He must be approached as the supreme authority in your life. It is His Name alone that is to be exalted. He cannot be one more god among many. He cannot be one more hero among many heroes. He cannot be one more good role model amongst many role models. He demands a preeminence and a supremacy, complete devotion of your heart.

Day 6

Scripture

Psalm 20:1 TLV
May Adonai answer you in the day of trouble! May the Name of the God of Jacob set you up securely on high.

Heart Thoughts

Do you have a bad habit, a sin that you just can’t seem to shake, a troublesome situation at work, a financial hardship or bad medical report? Are you facing a day of trouble? At first, you might be tempted to think it would just be easier to give up, run away or freeze. But, it does not have to be this way.
Maybe today feels like your day of trouble, but it does not need stay that way. He promises to change your day of trouble by setting you up securely on high. To be set up on high means to be out of the way of trouble. To be set up securely on high means to be out of the way of trouble and have additional protection.
How do you get this answer in your day of trouble? How do you get set up securely on high? You simply need to call on the “Name of the God of Jacob.” Remember, it was the God of Jacob that protected Jacob from Esau and blessed Jacob through the entirety of his life. It was the God of Jacob that blessed Jacob when Laban was trying to cheat him and manipulate him.
We’re not stretching our faith. We’re not pursuing the excellence that God has placed in our hearts. Maybe you’ve been coasting lately, thinking that perhaps you’ve reached your limits. You’re not stretching your faith. You aren’t believing for an increase. No, don’t stop halfway; go on up to the top of your mountain. Believe God for more.
Maybe you’ve been going through hard times lately, thinking that there is no way out. Start calling on the Name of the God of Jacob. Start believing He will answer you and He will set you up securely on high. Believe God will rescue and set you up securely.

Bracha

May the Name of the God of Jacob hear you in your distress and trial. May the Lord God who blessed and protected Jacob set you securely on high.

For the Feed

Maybe today feels like your day of trouble, but it does not need stay that way. He promises to change your day of trouble by setting you up securely on high. To be set up on high means to be out of the way of trouble. To be set up securely on high means to be out of the way of trouble and have additional protection.
