Notice that what God wants trumps what we might think is good enough.
In this passage we follow an important event from when Abram had a child with his house maid, to when God shows up and tells him he will have a son; through his wife.
When we buy into God’s plan our world changes, sometimes very quickly sometimes slowly, but we will change.
Verse 2, God gives Abram a mission, “walk before me and be blameless”.
God speaks to us today in this same regard.

2 And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will make you exceedingly numerous.”
God wants to make this offer to all his children, maybe not quite on this level but certainly to make a covenant with you.
Notice that even the names change.
Can you imagine with me that the name of Abram was from the beginning Abraham; that God just showed up and made things right.

5 No longer shall your name be Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you the ancestor of a multitude of nations.
6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.
7 I will establish my covenant between me and you, and your offspring after you throughout their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.
Even Abram’s wife gets a new name and she will be the vessel of a son.
We must know that Sarah was barren.
This is why Sarah had made a covenant with her house maid to lay with her husband; so that her husband could have a son to carry on his legacy.
What God wants us to know in this passage is that in order to have a great legacy we must first have faith in Him.
Now for those who think they are not able to make this connection with God.
Perhaps instances in your life discount you from being great in the eyes of God.
Know this, before Abram made this connection, while he was still a young child, Abram’s father was an idol worshipper.
It was Abram that had an impact on his father as he taught his father that these images that he worshipped were not godly or spiritual but only figures made by man’s hand of clay.

And it came to pass in the
1904 A.M.sixth week, in the seventh year thereof, that Abram said to Terah his father, saying, "Father!"
And he said, "Behold, here am I, my son." 2. And he said,

"What help and profit have we from those idols which thou dost worship,
And before which thou dost bow thyself? 1
3.
For there is no spirit in them, 2
For they are dumb forms, and a misleading of the heart.
Worship them not:
4. Worship the God of heaven,
Who causeth the rain and the dew to descend on the earth, 3
And doeth everything upon the earth,
And hath created everything by His word, 4
And all life is from before His face.
5. Why do ye worship things that have no spirit in them?
For they are the work of (men's) hands, 5
And on your shoulders do ye bear them, 6
And ye have no help from them,
But they are a great cause of shame to those who make them,
And a misleading of the heart to those who worship them:
Worship them not."

And his father said unto him, "I also know it, my son, but what shall I do with a people who have made me to serve before them?
7.
And if I tell them the truth, they will slay me; for their soul cleaveth
God as made us with his hand and what he has made is good.
In the beginning this is what God said.
But sin has distracted us from the good within and we begin to form our own conclusions.
Notice that Tehran said to Abram his son, “I know my son, but what shall I do?
The world will ask you to serve their gods but inside each one of us is the true creator image we must let him out.
