Why am I able to say with complete confidence that I trust in Jesus?
What is it about Him that was so unique and powerful?

Jesus Fulfilled the Requirements of the Law

Colossians 2:13–14 NASB95
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

God gave the law to define for us the “rules of the game”.

Like in every other situation in life, when the rules are broken, a penalty is assessed.

If the penalty is due, and the judge is just, then someone must pay!

Jesus Exchanged His Righteousness for our Sinfulness

2 Corinthians 5:21 NASB95
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Having fulfilled all aspects of God’s requirements perfectly, Jesus was the only one who could pay someone else’s penalties because he owed none Himself.

He exchanged His perfect record for our failure and allowed us to escape.

Jesus Defeated Death in His Resurrection

John 11:25 NASB95
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,

The final penalty of sin is death.

Romans 6:23 NASB95
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Guiltless, He took upon Himself our guilt and died

Because He rose again to never die, we have victory through Him over death

1 Corinthians 15:55–57 NASB95
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Offers New Life to those who Receive Him

John 1:12–13 NASB95
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

It is not automatic...

Matthew 7:21 NASB95
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
John 6:40 NASB95
“For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
Romans 10:9–10 NASB95
that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
