Theological side: Covenant vs. dispensationalism
The description that Peter gives to the church sounds very much like the description that God gives to Israel in the OT.

Covenant theologian conclusion= the church has replaced Israel, or the church is now Israel.
The two are the same.
Dispensationalism= The church and Israel are not the same.
They are different and separate.
How do you explain ?
The church is a “people of God” and Isreal is a “people of God” Two different groups two different peoples of God.
And there is a lot of overlap between the two people of God.
What is true of one is sometime true of the other.
Chosen Generation- Chosen race (Christian race, sons and daughters of God, adopted into His family by means of Christ’s blood)
Royal priesthood- You are all priests before God (This was not true of all Israel), Not just priests, but priests to the King- Royal priests.
You are also related to the King.
You have been adopted into God’s family.
Co-heirs with Christ.
Holy nation- Holy nation (people group) not a physical nation, part of a spiritual people.
The church does not have physical lands or a physical kingdom.
The church is not a physical nation.
It is a spiritual people.

And God did all of this so you could bring Him glory!
To proclaim His excellencies!

To tell v.10 about his mercy.
And after all that you want to follow the ones who view Christ as a rock of offense and a stone of stumbling?
Faith Baptist church what are you going to do if in 5 years the world starts putting you in jail for refusing to condone homosexuality?

God has called you out of darkness to proclaim his excellencies, not to go back to the darkness.
