Biblical Manhood

Must be understood that men and women were created differently. To have different roles.
“Whatever being created in the image of God means, it is very, very significant! Clearly, in Genesis 1, the progression of creation builds throughout the six days, culminating in the final creative act, in the second part of the sixth day—the creation of man as male and female in the image of God.”
Bruce A. Ware, “Male and Female Complementarity and the Image of God,”
Only man is described as being created in the image of God.
“Male and female are equal in essence and so equal in dignity, worth, and importance.”
Biblical Foundations for Manhood and Womanhood Male and Female Equality as the Image of God

Male and female are equal in essence and so equal in dignity, worth, and importance.

“While male is fully human, male is also male, not female; and while female is fully human, female is also female, not male. That is, while God did intend to create male and female as equal in their essential nature as human, He also intended to make them different expressions of that essential nature, as male and female reflect different ways, as it were, of being human.”
Grudem, W. A. (Ed.). (2002). Biblical foundations for manhood and womanhood.
Biblical Foundations for Manhood and Womanhood Male and Female Differentiation as the Image of God

While male is fully human, male is also male, not female; and while female is fully human, female is also female, not male. That is, while God did intend to create male and female as equal in their essential nature as human, He also intended to make them different expressions of that essential nature, as male and female reflect different ways, as it were, of being human.

According to the bible, men and women have clearly defined roles in the family and the church.
1 Peter 3:7 ESV
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

A husband is commanded to learn about his wife.

Husband’s, you are commanded to learn about your wife.
“Live with your wife in an understanding way.”
Requires study.
Do you know your wife? Habits, likes, dislikes, makes her smile, makes her laugh, what makes her light up? Irritates, angers, frustrates...
What are you doing with this information?
“Every husband is responsible to know his own wife well enough to apply God’s principles to living with her.” Stuart Scott, The Exemplary Husband
Being mindful of her weaknesses.
Does not mean:
Weaker intellectually.
Weaker spiritually.
“We are to treat our wives in the way that we would a very delicate and useful vessel. In other words, we are to esteem her as valuable and handle her carefully.” Stuart Scott, The Exemplary Husband
Usually weaker physically - by design.
Does not have the same authority.

A husband is commanded to honor his wife.

grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life.”
Honoring her is the idea of showing esteem (respect) and honor to the highest degree.
Proverbs 31:28–30 ESV
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honoring her because she shares the same inheritance as the husband.
What is the result?

Your prayers will not be hindered.

Opposite is to understand that if you are not learning about and honoring your wife, your prayers will be hindered.
