A Model of Servanthood (pt.2)
Observations: Lonnie Kimbrough- lost his mother, Praying with Fred Cole - his mother is in the hospital, Pastor Deloatche- in hospital
Introduction: We last looked at this servanthood model as Paul described Timothy.
Paul’s commendation of Timothy were high and challenging for the Church of Philippi as they ought be for even us.
He continues to give commendations though not of Timothy but now of Epaphraditus.
Paul also exhorts the necessary actions the Church should take regarding those whom serve diligently.
I. Servants Are Dedicated to the Work of Christ
a. Epaphraditus’ Character
Fellow worker - worked with Paul not against Paul
Fellow soldier - He was not an enemy to the church but a soldier for the Lord
Messenger - He served the Church
Minister - he aided Paul
b. Epahraditus’ Concern
For those he served in the Church
He wanted to be where they were and did not want their hearts to be burdened by the news of his illness
He wanted them to glory in God for the mercy God showed him.
II.
Servants Encourage and Rejoice
Seeing Epaphraditus
They are not to be jealous
III.
Servants Embrace and Receive Others Who Sacrifice
- Because of his sacrifice
Don’t be competitors
