What are the biblical imperatives for discipleship?

1st, Jesus commands it

The is only one imperative verb in this text, it is the “disciples” literally “going therefore disciple all nations”

Morris Proctor says is like this” make disciples, there will be some going, some baptizing, and some teaching”

And so apart from the going which I think includes going to CMF, Going to Harrisonburg, and Going to Cambodia, The two results of the imperative to disciple are the sequential actions of baptizing as a result of faith coming from the preaching of the gospel, and teaching in the ways of the Lord.

So, as we consider the local church, discipleship includes both the evangelism of the lost (baptism) and the training into maturity of the believer.

What is the believer to be trained into?

Observation of “all that I have commanded you”

We are going to consider evangelizing the lost next week, and tonight we are considering how the church disciples and trains the believer into maturity.
