Matthew 5:3 AMP
Blessed (happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous—with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the poor in spirit (the humble, who rate themselves insignificant), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven!
We are picking up where we left off from last weeks message.
TEXT: for Kingdom Mindedness
Mark 9:33–37 NIV
They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”

INTRODUCTION
“One of the greatest leaders of the twentieth century went about barefoot, wearing the simple clothes of the poor and traveling either on foot or in the cheapest railway class.
He never lived in a palace or mansion, but he chose to live in the slums among the poor people he loved. His name was Gandhi, and he led a nonviolent struggle to shake off British rule and bring self-government to the people of India. He was a moral and political leader, yet he led with humble servanthood rather than by political power.
Though he was of the Hindu religion, he studied the life of Jesus and patterned his actions after His model of servanthood.
In 1931, Gandhi went to several European nations to visit the leaders of various states. Wherever he went, he took a goat with him as a symbol of his own lowliness and humility.
When he went to Rome to call on the Italian dictator Mussolini, he arrived as always—dressed in old beggar’s clothes, leading his goat by a rope.
Mussolini’s children cried when they saw the thin, bald, powerless-looking man, but the dictator snapped at them and ordered them silent. ‘That scrawny old man and his scrawny old goat,’ he said, ‘are shaking the British Empire’”
There is great power in true servitude and Jesus modeled it perfectly in his word.
().
Mark 10:45 NIV
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
The kingdom of God is not about who is the greatest;
Jesus himself was the supreme example of Greatness, yet vailed his glory by commenting in (mrk 8:31) on he was the “Son of Man” and became a the ultimate servant unto death.
“Son of Man” and became a the ultimate servant unto death
“Ransom” (Lytron)-Noun found in matt “The price of release” for “many” means “All”
For us to accomplish His Kingdom mindedness, we must have a “selfless humility”.
“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus” ().
Philippians 2:5 NIV
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Chesterfield quoted on….
Humility, is
“Never to seem more learned than the people you are with. Wear your learning like a pocket-watch and keep it hidden.
Do not pull it out to count the hours, but give the time when you are asked”
Another words We know who we are, But when someone Ask….Then tell them.
I. ESTABLISHING THE KINGDOM MINDEDNESS
A. God Came to Save
1. Through the Incarnation, God became a servant.
“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross!” ().
Philippians 2:6–8 NIV
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
“For electricity to be useful, it must pass through an electrical transformer.
The transformer reduces the power to whatever a particular building needs and can accommodate without the power destroying it.
Without this reduction, everything in the house would burn up.
Jesus Christ brought God down to us—into the practical realm of our daily lives.
He did not diminish God or His holiness; He merely revealed Him and brought Him to us in a way we could comprehend”.
“Jesus Christ . . . tasted fully of the human experience and overcame temptation so that He can empathize with and care for us when we are tempted.
Jesus can mend our broken hearts, help us when we stumble, and comfort us when we have to say goodbye to loved ones.
He can console us when the home crumbles, inspire us when we are depressed, and calm us when anxieties overwhelm our spirits”.
We must become like Christ, turn to....
Be reconciled to God” ().
2 Corinthians 5:16–20 ESV
From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
To be in Christ resulted from being Born Again ()
Application:
To be in Christ resulted from being Born Again (Jn 3:5)
We must become like Christ first being Born Again, by being born of “water and spirit” ()
The “Old way” ceased and the new way was to live life was for kingdom’s purpose or pleasing God.
We must share the message of ()
The word “Implore” “was to beg” for a response in order to be reconciled.
I remember what it was like to be a new creature and now I’m part of the kingdom minded. (Tell my testimony)
Now let’s turn to the bible to see how...

B. Jesus Revealed God’s “Heart and Mind” to Mankind.
B. Jesus Revealed God’s Heart and Mind to Mankind.
1. Jesus revealed God’s perspective to the world (In the beatitudes).
“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you”
Matthew 5:3–12 KJV 1900

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
2. Further, He taught us how to deal with our enemies.
Matthew 5:44 ESV
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
This doesn’t sound much like a conqueror, but this is the method Jesus chose of in conquering Hate.
The Israelites Taught it was ok to hate your enemy because it was a way of showing the judgment of God on them.
But like I read last week () the “Rain”. God’s grace is for all.
Matthew 5:45 NIV
that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
We must keep our attitudes as to not hate people, but the SIN that binds them.
let’s look at some..
II. PRINCIPLES OF KINGDOM MINDEDNESS
II. PRINCIPLES OF KINGDOM MINDEDNESS
1. To be a part of the kingdom of God, we must leave our former lives of sin, follow the Lord with all our hearts, and become soul winners.
“‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men’” ().
Mark 1:17 ESV
And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
“‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men’” (). A. Forsaking
A. Forsaking
Mark 1:17 NIV
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
Illustration:
I never was a true fisherman. Hated waiting in the sun. Alway’s caught the smallest fish. So I gave the sport up.
The Church has become the same way
A. Forsaking
“We’re no longer are fishers of men, but keepers of the aquarium, and we spend most of our time swiping fish from each other’s bowl.”
Here is a good example of someone who knows how to fish....

Her Prayer “Line”

Alta Vail of Emporia, Kansas, tells in Sunshine magazine how she found a new way to pray while ironing. One day she was thinking about the different kinds of lines—bus lines, clothes lines, fishing lines, telephone lines. Why not a prayer line? she asked herself.

So she strung a short rope across one corner of her kitchen where she irons and hung cards on it with names of people she knew needed prayer. As she irons, she prays for each person by name.

Not surprisingly, news has spread and she gets regular requests to “hang me on your prayer line.”

If You want to win souls, It starts with Prayer! You will begin to find out how many people are hungry because your not fishing the aquarium but casting a “Prayer Line”

Do you have a soul-winner’s heart?

We must Then....
“Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: ‘If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me’” ().
A. Forsake some things.
1. Turn to your Bible as the roadmap that leads to God’s kingdom.
Mark 8:34 NIV
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
Adoniram Judson, the renowned missionary to Burma, endured untold hardships trying to reach the lost for Christ. For 7 heartbreaking years he suffered hunger and privation. During this time he was thrown into Prison, and for 17 months was subjected to incredible mistreatment. As a result, for the rest of his life he carried the ugly marks made by the chains and iron shackles which had cruelly bound him.

Fearing His Scars

Adoniram Judson, the renowned missionary to Burma, endured untold hardships trying to reach the lost for Christ. For 7 heartbreaking years he suffered hunger and privation. During this time he was thrown into Ava Prison, and for 17 months was subjected to almost incredible mistreatment. As a result, for the rest of his life he carried the ugly marks made by the chains and iron shackles which had cruelly bound him.

Undaunted, upon his release he asked for permission to enter another province where he might resume preaching the Gospel. The godless ruler indignantly denied his request, saying, “My people are not fools enough to listen to anything a missionary might SAY, but I fear they might be impressed by your SCARS and turn to your religion!”

—Henry G. Bosch

At one time Fearing The Scars of your past, now may become the story that may impress people enough to open their mind and hearts to the message of the kingdom and follow.
B. Following
A. As followers of Christ, we must study and follow His teachings.
2. He set the pattern for our lives in every way.
3. As followers of Christ, we must study and follow His teachings.
John 13:15–17 NIV
I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
1. Jesus washed the disciples feet
But greater was the blessing for a woman who washed the feet of Jesus
2. Unclean women washed his feet.
3. But Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you—go in peace.”
3. But Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you—go in peace.”
But Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you—go in peace.”
it’s your act of faith in approaching God that will Bless you like this woman was.
Hebrews 4:16 ESV
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
C. Becoming
Happiness is found in....
C. Becoming (Kingdom minded) like Christ.
(phil 3:8)
C. Becoming
Philippians 3:8 NIV
What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ
A. Kingdom-mindedness leads to soul-mindedness.

Consider means to “think through or reflect on.” After reflection he considered them loss. This he did at a point in time in the past and that decision was still in effect when he wrote, as connoted by the use of the Greek perfect tense. Doubtless Paul considered his life-transforming conversion on the Damascus Road as the time when he switched from confidence in the flesh to confidence in Christ alone.

It would be hard to find a more forceful refutation of human effort to please God than what Paul presented here (v. 8). Four Greek particles (alla menoun ge kai) are translated what is more and introduce the strong statements of verse 8. Paul considered as loss not only the things already listed (vv. 5–6), but everything (v. 8). In exchange for confidence in the flesh Paul gained the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus personally. Christ was now his Lord.

His former “gains” (kerdē, v. 7) he considered “rubbish” (which can mean food scraps or dung) so that he might gain (kerdēsō) Christ. Nothing else really mattered to him any longer. Having Christ as his Savior and Lord so far surpassed anything he had in Judaism.

Those who “gain Christ” (v. 8) are those found in Him

Philippians 3:8 NIV
What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ
2.To be kingdom-minded is to be soul-minded.
So what Paul was saying to us that our relationship with God is worth more than anything.
So by reading the Gospels, obeying the book of acts and by living the epistles....
will give
Romans 1:14 NIV
I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.
1st
you will be answering the call of the kingdom and making the house of God a priority.
Philippians 3:8 NIV
What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ
Philippians 3:8 NIV
What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ
III. THE PRIORITY OF THE KINGDOM.
1. One of the greatest revelations of God’s heart was that He viewed the lost world as a harvest ready for reaping.
A. The Harvest Is Great
John 4:35 ESV
Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.
“Gallup conducted a poll of the unchurched in America. Those taking the poll surveyed 2,556 adults who did not attend church regularly.
(1) The survey reports that 44 percent of US adults are ‘unchurched,’ defined as neither belonging to a church nor visiting one within the last six months except for religious holidays, weddings, and funerals.
(2) The unchurched are becoming increasingly receptive to what churches have to offer and are staying away primarily out of inconvenience rather than hostility.
(3) Of the unchurched, 63 percent believe the Bible is God’s Word.
(4) Seventy-seven percent say they pray to God.
(5) Seventy-two percent believe Jesus is the Son of God.
(6) Fifty-eight percent said they were open to joining a church if they found the right one.
Gallup’s conclusion: These people are ripe for the harvest, but it will take new and creative strategies to reach them”.
Maybe new and creative strategies would be a return to the Jesus method.
B. The Laborers Are Few
B. The Laborers Are Few
1. Spiritual Procrastination
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few” ().
Matthew 9:37 NIV
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
John 4:35 ESV
Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.
A. So Jesus talked about “knowing” and “Doing”
1. Labor is the top priority of the harvest.
Is their somebody who needs a visit or encouraging word?
2. If somebody is to hear about Jesus today, we’ve got to tell them about Jesus.
Is their a co worker or friend who needs to hear the good news?
3. We have what the world does not have—Jesus Christ.
The promise of Spiritual blessings (Happiness) will come as a result of taking action, but By doing nothing we forfeit Christ Blessings in our life.
6. By doing nothing we forfeit Christ Blessings in our life
There are....
C. THE Reasons for Personal Evangelism
1. Because it is our commission from the Lord.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations” ().
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations” ().
Today; We are starting a small group to do just that. Have you connected yet?
How about our core group meetings or Community prayer service?
Matthew 28:19 NIV
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Illustration: We used to have Prayer meetings that neighbors worried about.
We used to have Prayer meetings that neighbors worried about
I remember a Growing kids Class in home lesson we prayed a backslid preacher’s family back through.
These small groups are great starters in becoming Kingdom Minded, as well as being filled with the Holy Spirit.
Let’s look at...
2. The Holy Ghost and how it’s empowered us in wining souls.
Acts 1:8 ESV
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Gave them Boldness.
gave them purpose and unity.
It made them multicultural.
Are you shy? Then the Holy Ghost is what you need to go out into are’s you never would have gone before.
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God” ().
2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
3. The advantage of personal evangelism is that anyone can evangelize almost anywhere at any time.
(Philip in acts 8:26-40)
The spirit prompted him
The man of Ethiopia read from the “suffering servant” passage ()
The preached word put faith in the mans heart ()
And he explained Christ fulfilled the prophecies of Isaiah
Philip preached Jesus and the man wanted to waste no time to get baptised.
When we are obedient to Gods voice, and are Kingdom minded by explaining to a hungry soul the plan of salvation, God will continue to fulfill your purpose in his kingdom in this world.
CONCLUSION
1. The harvest was foremost in the heart of God.
3. The world is the field.
“History records a remarkable account of the destruction of an ancient town.
The watchmen on the walls would call out whenever they thought they saw a foe approaching. Sensing that the people had begun to resent them for giving many false alarms, they decided to remain quiet.
Regrettably, not long afterward the enemy actually did come. The city that the call of the watchmen could have saved was devastated.
Because of inaction, nothing was left of this city but smoking ruins. Later, someone placed a small memorial upon which was the following a inscription on a tombstone :
‘Here stood a town that was destroyed by silence’”.
God’s people cannot afford to be silent about the availability of salvation.
