“Sacrifice” -
I. The Surrender (vs.1)

B. Sacrifices are only given by people who are surrendered to God.
1. Surrender is a battle term meaning: to give up to the conqueror of our souls.
It also means to give up your own ability to control.
2. Joshua said in (24:15) to “choose” or make a choice for yourself as to who will be your Lord.
3. Jeremiah said in (29:13) “you will seek me and find me, when you seek me with your whole heart.”
C. Surrendered people have been convinced, converted and changed to people who are totally abandoned to Christ.
God can teach, train and challenge people like that.
II.
The Sacrifice (vs.2-10)
A. The God of Abraham speaks - “A Word of Challenge” -
Before God can use you, He has to test us.
Abraham is to sacrifice his only son to God.
words are cheap!
God is looking at our hearts!
B. The Servant of God Obeys
Abraham immediately does what God tells him to do.
He takes his supplies (loaded his donkey) (vs.3)
He takes his servants (vs.3)
He takes his son (sacrifice) (vs.3)
He takes his faith (we will return) (vs.5)
C. The Son of the Servant Surrenders
Isaac asked a great questions on the way to be sacrificed - “where is the lamb?” (vs.7)
Abraham answered, “God will provide.”
(vs.8)
Note: Abraham was the surrendered servant.
Isaac was the surrendered sacrifice and that’s all God needs to work with!
D. The Steadfastness of the Servant
Abraham builds the alter, bounds his son and raises his knife in obedience to God’s Word.
