He was perfectly God, and at the same time perfectly man, made like unto his brethren in all things.

This is the message according to Christ that goes beyond human tradition and philosophy
Tonight we will be see the impact of this God stepping down from heaven.
Gods nature in human form
God previously dwelled in temples but now we see in John 1: 14 through Christ God now takes up his dwelling in a human body and paved the way for him to dwell in us
1 John 1:1 tells that Jesus had a physical body that we could hear, see, and touch
By fully becoming human He fully experienced human weakness
Phil 2:7 being born in the likeness of men
Heb 2:14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things
Heb 2:17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people
He had a normal body

When he died-a man died- taking the place of humanity
Jesus was so normal that nothing would draw people too him except for his power.
Isa 53:2 says that he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him
it essentially says that Jesus was ugly
he wasn't the perfectly groomed Jesus fit and lovable who could be seen with your grandma or in a tv commercial
He was so normal that for nearly 30 years (between birth and ministry) no one has any writings about him
ponder that for a minute: in the midst of our dreams and goals- Jesus spent nearly all of our lives just being normal!
At this point he was just working, taking care of his family, and just being faithful where he was at in God’s plan
God came down from heaven and became normal
His normal life included the temptation to sin just like us!
In spite of human weakness Christ Demonstrated complete obedience to God
Here is something Key to understand:
Though Jesus did not sin, he is still completely like us
Humanity is not defined by Sin, to be human does not equate to being sinful.
To be perfectly human the way we were designed is to be Jesus.
Anything less then that is a distorted view of humanity as a result of sin.
Jesus’ life shows what humanity would be like in the absence of sin.
Our problem is not that we are human but rather that we are fallen.
Jesus’ life shows the potential for every human as God intended.
Though Jesus sympathizes with us and shares our weakness he overcame the weakness and lived completely without sin
His perfect obedience is the foundation for us being perfected
His perfect obedience made him a perfect offering for all eternity Heb 10:14
His perfect obedience in Human form allowed Him to pay the Human debt Heb 10:10
This paved a new path in contrast to adam who Humanity followed into Sin, Humanity follows Jesus into Righteousness Romans 5:19
It is this foundation that makes Him actually help us with what we need
His Humanity gave Him the ability to atone for our sins Rom 5:18-19
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross Col 1:19-20
His Humanity gives the gift of Resurrection 1 Cor 15:21
His Humanity equips Him to help us when tempted Heb 2:18
His Humanity is the perfect example Phil 2:5-8
The Fullness of deity dwells bodily Col 2:9
The Fullness of God humbled himself and took the form of a servant laying down His life and paving the way for us to know true Humanity
For to this you have been called…leaving you an example so that you might follow in his steps 1 Peter 2:21
True Humanity = being united in the closest possible relationship to God in perfect harmony and submission, in perfect love and intimacy, where weakness is complimented by a greater strength
George Whitefield writes:
He was truly God, and therefore could satisfy; he was truly man, and therefore could obey and suffer in our stead.
He was God and man in one person, that God and man might be happy together again.

It is this fullness of deity dwelling bodily that gives all that we need for life and godliness

3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,

As we receive Christ--His deity dwelling bodily-His divine power for life and godliness—, so walk in Him! Rooted and built up in His example
in his life-death- Resurrection
If we can do this then we will attain the same resurrection with him in to perfect harmony with God- perfect Humanity
a resurrection not distant and spiritual but perfect and restored simply as you are now but perfected
Jesus’ resurrection still had his wounds after resurrection but they no longer represented pain.
instead they became symbols of God’s Graceful glory

and So walk in it keeping your eyes on the all powerful yet understanding Jesus who both understands your weakness and empowers you to experience growth
